The Westminster Democratic Town Committee has been a way for the town’s registered Democrats to get involved in campaigns—and the civic process in general—for over 50 years. Our membership reflects the various types of Democrats in America—“blue-dog” social and economic moderates, staunch union-labor activists, same-sex marriage defenders, social-justice advocates (affordable housing, anti-poverty
, etc.), public education endorsers, healthcare reform advocates, feminists, renewable energy advocates, and more. We’re small-business owners, private-sector employees, public-sector workers, veterans, healthcare professionals, and retirees. We’re married, divorced, single with no kids, dating, working parents, single parents, grandparents…
Our members are involved in our community in other ways. We serve on many town committees, help run elections, and volunteer for local nonprofit organizations. The Westminster DTC—just like DTCs around the state—is the grassroots force of the state Democratic Party. We are organized and constituted under authority of and in accordance with the provisions of the General Laws of the Commonwealth. We can be a resource for any registered Democrats and Independents who are interested in helping out with the campaigns of Democratic candidates. And any registered Democrats living in Westminster and interested in grassroots activism in support of Democratic candidates for political office or progressive issues/policies are invited to join. We not only meet to discuss how to support the progressive ideas of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, the Democratic National Committee and Democrats in general, but also to have fun.
