May we never forget the ones who didn't make it home and the families of the lost.

New seasons of life bring new changes, and that doesn't stop in just our personal lives, but continues into our professional lives, as well.

After 30 years of service to the Westmoreland Fire Department, Assistant Chief Kevin Bandy has decided to hang his helmet and retire from the fire service. His goals are to spend more time with his wife and his grandbabies.

Because of his retirement, the axe needed to be passed on to the next generation of leaders for our department.

Starting July 21, 2026, the following firefighters will take on their new roles:
🔥Captain Chris Bandy will be promoted to Assistant Chief
🔥Lieutenant Thomas Eakle will be promoted to Captain
🔥Senior Firefighter Clayton Anderson will be promoted to Lieutenant
🔥Firefighter Brian Strong will be promoted to Senior Firefighter

Congratulations to each of these hardworking men! We are so proud of you and are excited to see where you lead our department!

Westmoreland Police Department just advised us that they are setting the tornado siren off due to a tornado warning in southern Sumner County. We are watching the current line of storms coming towards Westmoreland. Be cautious and take shelter if you feel the need! Will try to keep everyone posted!

"Yall ready for this?"
~queue music~

Yall! It's about to get fun around here! At least for a short time.

Hear that whistling? That's the wind. And it's only going to get crazier. We are expected to have wind gusts up to 80mph tonight! Then, around 7pm, it's going to storm. After that? Snow, cold temps, runny noses!

So! Here are your reminders:
-Secure everything outside. Trash cans. Toys. Trees. Animals (don't forget the chickens and goats).
-Make sure your windows and such are closed.
-Check to make sure nothing that flies can damage your vehicles or homes.
-Bundle up tomorrow!

☃️Well, would you look at that! Another round of snow last night came through after snowing most of the day yesterday.☃️

🧊Just a friendly reminder that under the snow is still ice! So, please use caution if you get out. ⚠️

🏖Needless to say, we are looking forward to warmer weather ahead!🌞

🍨On a side note, the snow is perfect for snow cream!
❄️1 cup milk or sweetened condensed milk
❄️1/3 cup of sugar
❄️2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
❄️8 cups snow
❄️And of course - SPRINKLES!

There are still many of you without power and we know it's frustrating, but please know that Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation is doing everything possible to get things fixed SAFELY. Long hours, freezing cold temps, lack of rest and food. These men and women are doing everything possible to make sure you and us are all taken care of and we can't thank them enough!🫶🏻

We are now up to around 80 calls that we have been able to respond to since 7am yesterday. Last night we had several crew members stay the night at the fire hall and responded over night. Tonight will be no different as we prepare for the temperatures to drop below 0°.

♨️If you need warmth:
⛪️Crossroads Church on the Hill next to Agaves will be opening as a warming center.
⚡️We also just found out that Lowe's in Gallatin received a shipment of generators today.
🫂Reach out to your friends and family who have had power restored for help with heat or finding temporary shelter for the night.

🚧The roads are starting to melt off but with the temps about to plummet, they could freeze over. So be aware of black ice. Take things slow. And take blankets, flashlights, and other emergency items with you in case of getting stuck or breaking down.
🌲Trees are still a serious concern. Do NOT walk under tree limbs that appear to be heavy from ice as they could snap and fall on you.

WHAT. A. DAY.

It's been crazy today and we aren't stopping. Our crews are still responding and are prepared to respond throughout the night as things begin to get worse.

Everything is refreezing. Snow is coming down and it's sticking to the roads, so road conditions are worsening. Trees are still snapping as things refreeze. With it being dark, things tend to get more dangerous for our first responders.

Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation crews are going to get some rest and start again in the morning. Most of their crews haven't ate or rested since around 4am, so please be patient as they continue this dangerous work of power restoration. So, if you are still without power, it's highly likely you won't have power tonight.

Find ways to get warm. Bundle up. Cuddle. Pinterest some SAFE heating hacks like the use of candles and your crockpot. If things get worse in your area as far as trees, lines, emergencies, be sure to call 911 to report these concerns and the proper crew will be out to assist.

We are praying for a peaceful night and a fresh start in the morning.

01/25/2026

WFD crews have been running calls nonstop since before 8am this morning. So far, we have had over 40 calls ranging from medical to structure fires. Please be patient with us as we continue to serve our community as quickly as I can!
