Weston’s town election is May 3, and the town caucus to nominate candidates is March 10.

Congratulations to three WHS athletic teams on their recent state championship victories!

🏆 Girls Swim & Dive – Secured their second consecutive state title.
🏆 Boys Indoor Track – Dominated the competition with 75 points, far ahead of the second- and third-place teams (27 and 25 points, respectively).
🏆 Boys Fencing – Achieved a state championship in just their second year as a program at WHS.

A feasibility study is underway to explore options for improving Weston’s high school and middle school campus.

The first of four community meetings related to the study will be held Wed., Jan. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Weston High School cafeteria. This meeting will focus on the project's charter.

The School Committee has begun developing the district’s budget for the 2025-2026 school year. As the first step, the committee is establishing budget guidelines that will direct the superintendent and her leadership team in preparing the budget. The public is invited to share their input on budget priorities during a public hearing at the next committee meeting on October 21 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. This is an opportunity for community members to express their views and contribute to the district’s financial planning for the upcoming school year.

Niche.com has released its 2025 rankings of the best public schools in the U.S.

In Massachusetts, the Weston Public Schools ranked #1 among 217 districts. Across the U.S., WPS ranked #36 among 10,561 districts.

Niche ranks public schools based on a comprehensive analysis of factors such as academic performance, teacher quality, student culture and diversity, and parent and student reviews.

Each fall, Boston Magazine releases its ranking of the best public high schools in the Greater Boston area. In 2024, Weston High School was ranked #2 out of 150 public high schools in the region.

The rankings are based on a comprehensive analysis of several key factors, including average class size, student-teacher ratio, MCAS proficiency, SAT proficiency, AP exam performance, graduation rates, and teacher evaluations. The data for these metrics are primarily sourced from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

MaxPreps, an online platform covering high school sports in the U.S., annually ranks the top athletic programs nationally and in each state.

For the 2023-2024 school year, Weston High School was ranked the #2 program in Massachusetts for the second consecutive year. Nationally, WHS ranked #50.

During the 2023-2024 school year, WHS teams won 8 state championships: boys tennis, boys swim & dive, girls swim & dive, boys golf, girls volleyball, boys hockey, boys outdoor field & track, and boys crew.

🏆 Congratulations to Weston High School’s Athletic Program on an Outstanding Year! 🏆

🏅 Achievements:
--Eight teams won state championships
--Three teams were state runners-up
--Boys Tennis: Achieved a historic milestone with seven consecutive state championships, the longest streak in MIAA history and the most state finals appearances

🏆 Dual County League Dominance:
--Twelve WHS teams won Dual County League championships

👟 Student Participation:
--Over 50% of the WHS student body participated in athletic teams each season. Mike McGrath, Director of Athletics for Weston Public Schools, says, “These are pretty high percentages for sports participation in area high schools.”

Congratulations to the Weston Boys Tennis team for its seventh consecutive state championship. The team defeated Bedford today in the Division 3 finals at MIT. The team is led by Coaches Conlin and Cochran.

The Weston Girls Tennis team also competed in the state finals today, finishing second against Pembroke.
