🚌 BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDER 🚸

As Weston students return to school, the Weston Police Department reminds motorists to slow down, stay alert, and use extra caution throughout town.

Additional officers will be out monitoring school zones, bus routes, and surrounding roads to help keep students safe and ensure motorists follow traffic laws.

Please remember:

🚌 Stop for school buses displaying flashing red lights and an extended stop sign.

🚸 Reduce your speed in school zones and residential neighborhoods.

🚶 Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and watch for children near bus stops.

📵 Put your phone away and keep your attention on the road.

👮 Follow the directions of crossing guards and police officers.

⏰ Leave a few minutes early and expect additional traffic.

Our goal is simple: make sure every student gets to school and returns home safely.

🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY – GEORGETOWN ROAD 🚧

Paving operations are continuing today, Tuesday, August 25, on Lower Georgetown Road from Weston Road to Godfrey Road.

⚠️ Expect significant delays and one-lane traffic. To save time and avoid delays, motorists are strongly encouraged to use an alternate route whenever possible.

Please slow down, follow all traffic control directions, and use extra caution around construction crews and equipment.

To help reduce your travel time, please use an alternate route whenever possible. Weston Human Services and the Weston Police Department encourage families to begin the school year with a simple conversation about what to do if an emergency happens while family members are apart.

Choose meeting places, decide how everyone will communicate, and identify a trusted person outside the area who can help reconnect family members if local phone service is disrupted. Make sure children have important contact information in their backpacks and understand the plan in a way that is appropriate for their age.

Reviewing and practicing your plan now can help everyone respond with greater confidence during an unexpected situation.
