The WOPD employs 12 full-time officers. All have graduated from the WV State Police Academy, with some coming from a military background. Chief Rick Panico is a life-long resident of Westover and has specialized training in both the military and in policing. The department is divided into three units: operations/patrol, investigations and parking/ motor vehicle enforcement. Westover Police Department works closely with other departments within the city, notably, housing code enforcement. A specific requirement for all new officers is to become familiar with all of the citizens of Westover to allow us to work closely together to address any and all issues with regards to public safety in our city.
