Westport Transfer (The Dump) will be closed on Wednesdays, starting August 5th, due to construction at the Sewer Plant. The Westport Transfer will continue to be open on Saturdays from 7AM to 12Noon. Hopefully this will only be for a month, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Good morning. We are aware that many customers are experiencing brown or discolored water this morning. Overnight, the water plant experienced a pressure issue that stirred up naturally occurring mineral sediment in the water mains. While this can make the water appear brown or rusty, it is not uncommon after a pressure fluctuation.

Our water department has addressed the pressure issue and is actively working to restore normal water quality throughout the system.

If your water is discolored:

Run the cold water from a faucet for 10–15 minutes, or until it clears.
Avoid washing white laundry until your water runs clear.
If the water does not clear after flushing, please contact the Town Hall/Water Department at 812-591-3500.

We understand that many of you are frustrated, especially those who have experienced previous water issues. We share that frustration, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Our staff has been working since the issue was identified, and we appreciate your patience while the system returns to normal.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding.

Westport Water Company Customers: If you are wondering if you lost/received your July water bill, you have not, the bills are somewhere at the USPS and hopefully you will get them soon. Feel free to call Town Hall or stop by to pick up a copy of your bill. Thank you for your patience with this!
