Notebooks and folders and pens… oh my! It can only mean one thing… it’s Back-to-School Season!

This , we’re sorting through some common school supplies to figure out what belongs in the recycling bin, what belongs in the trash, and when reusing or donating is the best option.

Cheers to a healthy and sustainable school year! 🎒📚♻️

We’re closing out Plastic-Free July with a nod to our newest water refill station, now open at Winslow Park, where people AND pups can stay hydrated while helping reduce single-use plastic bottles.

A special thank you to everyone who has supported this effort. Because of your generosity, these refill stations are becoming a reality throughout our community.

And it’s just the beginning! 💚 🐕

Now this is our kind of sunshine! 🌞 🎉

Nothing makes us smile more than seeing Camp Compo kids using the new water refill station at the Compo Beach basketball courts to fill their Sustainable Westport reusable water bottles!

To everyone who donated, volunteered, shared our mission, or cheered us on: thank you. You didn't just help install a water station - you are helping to build a healthier, more sustainable future for the next generation.

And we're just getting started! More refill stations are on the way as we continue working together to make it easier to ditch single-use plastic and choose reusables.

Thank you for helping us build a greener, healthier Westport - one refill at a time. 💚 🩵

Trash Talking so good, we’re throwing it back! 🙌

In alignment with the Department of Public Works and recycling campaign focus, “No Bags, No Food, No Foam,” we’re here to remind you …

No plastic bags or film of any kind in the recycling bin!

1. No Bags
Never place recyclables in plastic bags. Although it may seem convenient, all bagged recycling must be discarded due to OSHA safety regulations.

2. No Food
Empty and rinse all containers before recycling. Food and liquid residue can contaminate entire loads, often causing them to be rejected.

3. No Foam
Styrofoam cannot be recycled in our area. Dispose of all Styrofoam in the trash and remove packing materials from boxes before recycling them.

A simple change at home makes a big difference for our recycling system—and for Westport's sustainability goals. Let's keep recycling right, Westport! 💚
