Join us at our Annual Ice Cream Social where you can visit with your neighbors while enjoying delicious ice cream, take a chance on a raffle and the kids can put their names in for a Free Back to School Supplies Door Prize. On July 8th, the American Legion Auxiliary George Smith Unit 1607 had the pleasure of hosting the Orange County American Legion Auxiliary’s July meeting. Auxiliary members from across the county came out to discuss and plan strategies and events in support of Veterans’ Programs, Children & Youth activities and how to support our communities. Thank you to members of American Legion George Smith Post for helping with set up, manning the grill, and clean up. You are always there to help us out. 🇺🇸👍🍔🌭

Today 18 young ladies from Orange County and 13 others from Westchester, Rockland, Ulster and Duchess headed out to Empire Girls State at SUNY Brockport for 6 days of Government Studies. We especially wish our two delegates, Jilliana Renna and Charlotte Curabba, an amazing time as they learn about our government, develop leadership skills and make new friends from across New York State. We are proud of you! Also, a big shout out to George Smith Auxiliary member, Kim Williams, who volunteered to be a chaperone on the bus. Thank you Kim!🇺🇸🇺🇸

Saturday, June 20th was the Orange County Girls State Tea where delegates from Orange County came together to meet each other before attending Empire Girls State, June 30th to July 6th at SUNY Brockport. This year the delegates from our ALA George Smith Unit 1607 are Jilliana Renna and Charlotte Curabba. The guest speaker was Malunga Kinzonzi, our 2025 Girls State delegate, who shared her experiences of attending Girls State and being elected NYS Empire Girls State Senator and spending a week in Washington, D.C. We are proud of these young ladies. Thank you to our members, Fran Solimando, Kim Williams and Becky Olah for representing our auxiliary at the event. We also want to thank our Girls State Chairperson, Heather Post, for her hard work in chairing this committee and selecting wonderful candidates.

President Becky attended the MVHS Scholarship and Awards Night to give out the Ida Burigo Memorial Scholarship to our winners, Justin Roccabruna and Sigourney-Page Malunga Kinzonzi. Our 2026 Girls State delegates, Jilliana Renna and Charlotte Curabba were also recognized. Congratulations to all our award winners.🇺🇸🇺🇸

Though disappointing, the parade tomorrow is cancelled due to the predicted weather conditions. After careful consideration, the legion made the difficult decision to cancel the parade but please note~ Both Memorial Day services will proceed indoors, filled with honor and tribute.

Please join us at 8:45am in Westtown at the Community House and/or at 11:00am at the Unionville Firehouse as we come together to pay respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Your presence would be a testament to their bravery.

Tonight we celebrated our organization’s year end accomplishmets with an “after the holidays” holiday dinner meeting at Cuginos. What a great night with our members and Jr. members!!

Huge shout out to Maria & her amazing staff…the food and service were five star! Can’t say enough about the food ~ from appetizers & salads to main courses- all delicious and served with so much love from the best staff!

Thank you to all wh support our organization throughout the year! We look forward to many activities supporting Veterans in the year to come! ers
