On behalf of God's House Church, we want to recognize and celebrate Allison Sampey Romero as she retires today as Director of the Westwego Senior Center.

For years, Allison has been so much more than a partner to our church. She has been a friend, an advocate for seniors, and one of the most generous and loving people you could ever meet. She has always gone far beyond what her job required—helping distribute produce, connecting seniors with resources, and simply making sure people were taken care of.

And if you want to know what kind of person Allison is, look at her very last day. Today, we had produce available from Matrana's Produce, and without hesitation, Allison still made that pickup directly from their warehouse to the senior center so the seniors she has served could receive it. That’s Allison. ❤️

It is bittersweet watching Allison retire, especially knowing that her health helped make this decision necessary. Her energy may have been slowed down for a little while, but we know her spirit hasn’t slowed down one bit. We fully expect that once she’s back on her feet, we’ll find her volunteering right alongside us—or right back at the Senior Center helping somebody. 😂❤️

Allison, you have a very special place in our hearts. Thank you for the years of friendship, partnership, compassion, and service you’ve given this community.

Today isn’t goodbye. It’s “get some rest, get better, and we’ll see you when you’re ready for your next adventure.”

You are loved, you are appreciated, and you will absolutely be missed. ❤️

Well, today was my last Westwego Senior Center birthday party. I’m retiring on August 31, due to my health. Thank you, chief Dwayne Poncho Munch and his cooking committee for cooking a wonderful lunch. Thank you, Mayor, councilman Johnny Schaddinger, councilman Johnny Nobles, councilwoman Lisa Valance, Councilman Bobby Utley, and councilman Bobby Bonvillian for supporting me at the Center. I really appreciate y’all thank y’all so much. I can’t say enough about y’all. Thank you to the band, the volunteers my staff, Karla, Charles, Randi, and allison 25 years working for the City of Westwego.

Well, I gave out my last box of commodities. It’s so happens to be with Jenny and Gil Raine. Thank you, to my volunteers Emma, James, Abigail, Lori B Lori P.  Gauge, James J, and Scoutmaster Mike D Tracey KEITH, Janet, Cathy and GRANT but most of all my husband Myron he did and does so much for me I love y’all so much i couldn’t have done this without you. Grant is my right hand person thank you. Commodities will be given back at God’s House on the third Saturday of each month. They start at 9 o’clock in the morning.

THIS SATURDAY:
📍 Westwego Senior Center — Opens at 8 AM, while supplies last.
📍 God’s House Church — 7301 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero — 9 AM–12 PM, while supplies last. Produce may also be available at God’s House.
VOLUNTEERS show up for 8:30 am - no need for advance notice. Ask for Rhonda on site.

You must be pre-registered for Senior Commodities.

IMPORTANT CHANGE STARTING IN SEPTEMBER:
Senior Commodity boxes normally distributed at the Westwego Senior Center will move to God’s House Church.

Our wonderful Westwego site leader, Allison, needs some time to focus on personal matters. We are incredibly grateful for all the time and dedication she and her volunteer team have given our seniors. Please keep Allison in your prayers. ❤️

If Westwego is your regular site, please stop by this Saturday for your box and give Allison a big thank you for everything she has done! 💙Thank you Sara Galliano II I will be around. My dedication was to the seniors with my volunteers. I really enjoyed what I did. Thanks again for your kind words.❤️😘
