We are still collecting and buying food to fill orders for Westwood house and Hillsdale house seniors. Right now, we are most in need of some paper bags. They can be dropped off outside on the table at 100 Madison Ave, Westwood NJ. 8am - 4pm daily No plastic bags please. We have a ton. Really need the paper ones or even the reusable store kind as long as they are clean.

Shout out to Ralph from Granita Grill in Westwood for bringing a hot meal to 125 Westwood House Seniors (those who chose to participate) and cases of apples and oranges. Thank you to Mayor Ray Arroyo and Council and Cheryl Hodges and her group of volunteers for helping label the meals and non contact knock and drop delivery. The Seniors enjoyed a wonderful hot meal of chicken marsala, potato croquettes and roasted mixed vegetable.

This week we will reach 1,000 orders delivered to 210 different senior households since March 15th. I cannot thank everyone enough who has dropped off pantry items, made donations, fundraised for us, made connections for us, volunteered or helped in any way. We continue to battle this virus by keeping the seniors home safe supplied with food and essentials. We have many people to thank and letters are slowly going out to those individuals we know have donated. Some recent donations and items bought with donated funds. Many thanks, remain well and God bless all!

When I first made an appeal on FB to help the seniors of Westwood and Hillsdale House 3 weeks ago, I had no idea I would get the help and support of so many people. With the help of this BC Community and all the individuals who donated, volunteered, spread the word etc. we have been able to fill 487 orders for 168 different senior households. That's an average of 1 bag of groceries per senior per week. We are now at only 1 degree of separation. It is imperative that these seniors STAY home. With your help, I will continue my mission until it is SAFE to go out again. God Bless and Thank you all.

Today my day started at 8 am and didn't end until 15 minutes ago. We filled 120 orders between both Westwood House and Hillsdale House. Just when inventory started to dwindle, Jeannette Kensington 's handsome hubby showed up with more Bounty. I cannot thank Cresskill Cares enough for the efforts they are making in behalf of the seniors. While the Senior Center is closed to the public due to the Covid19 crisis, we continue to feed the seniors in need. Thank you all for your support.

If any of you have loved ones, friends, relatives of friends etc. living at either Westwood House or Hillsdale House, please tell them to stay in their apartments and to be extemely careful handling any food not received from our food drive. Everything they receive from us has been sanitized and handled by volunteers who are not sick and have no known exposure. If they get anything from anywhere else, they should wipe down containers, transfer the food into another container, throw out all packaging and then wash hands thoroughly before eating.

There have been reports of food being delivered from areas that have a high COVID 19 outbreak. I am doing everything I can to keep them safe but can't if this practice continues.

Using the cash/facebook donations to fill in the the gaps of what we could not fulfill on requests with what has been collected. I did get a few looks but explained that I was shopping for over 300 seniors and people seemed to be okay. We still need tissues and paper towels. One 6 pack will go to 6 seniors.

WESTWOOD/HILLSDALE/BERGEN COUNTY PROUD! My Mission is still not done.

This was the reality for many seniors made worse by the closure of the Thomas J Riley Senior Center and the Helping Hands Food Pantry. My solution was to turn the Community Room at Westwood House into a makeshift food pantry and ask the community to donate food and essentials to the low income seniors of Westwood House and Hillsdale House. With the help of a small army of Angels, we were able to distribute 78 orders to the 100 unit building in Hillsdale and 105 to the 182 unit building in Westwood. MY MISSION IS NOT DONE. Until it is safe for them to go out again, we need to continue to supply them with food and essentials. We will continue to have a drop off table every week day outside of Westwood House, 100 Madison Avenue, Westwood, NJ between 9:00 - 4:00 pm. If you can spare a few dollars, volunteers are also shopping for eggs, milk and cheese to supplement all the non perishable foods. We also are in desperate need of paper towels and tissues. Thank you all once again.
