Last Thursday evening, Highcrest School enjoyed wonderful performances from the 4th grade band and orchestra, as well as the 5th and 6th grade band, orchestra, and chorus. The students showcased their hard work, dedication, and talent through an amazing selection of songs and musical pieces that filled the evening with energy and excitement.

It was also incredible to see the amazing amount of parent and family support at the event. The school was filled with pride as families came together to celebrate the students’ accomplishments. Thank you to our Mr. Dion and Mrs. Donah, students, and supportive families for making the evening such a memorable and successful celebration of music.

What a great Friday at Charles Wright. As part of our fitness improvement plan - we challenged kids to increase their push-ups and upper body strength. These amazing athletes accepted Dr. Huber's challenge and beat him in a push up contest!! Way to go kids! This was an extra special lunch because one of our Hawk Heroes, Caleb's dad, joined the group for lunch

Please take a moment to congratulate District Teacher of the Year GINA GALLIVAN!!

Mrs. Gallivan has been described by her peers as a "cornerstone of both academic growth and collegial support", "compassionate, hardworking and patient" and the "epitome of a top rate educator". She not only teaches English 10 and CCSU Education Class for grades 11 & 12 but has also spearheaded the Future Educators Club and created the TIDE Foundation- supporting women who had undergone cancer diagnosis and treatment. We are so honored to have Gina as a part of the WPS family and are proud to present her with Teacher of the Year

Donna Glynn is truly at the heart of the SDMS community, and we are incredibly proud to recognize her as Wethersfield Public Schools’ Paraprofessional of the Year.

Donna brings warmth, kindness, and unwavering patience to every interaction each day. Her smile lights up every room she enters, creating an environment where students and staff feel welcomed, supported, and cared for. Beyond her caring nature, Donna has a tremendous positive impact in the classroom, where she works tirelessly to support students both academically and emotionally. She has a unique ability to meet students where they are, helping build their confidence while guiding them toward success. What makes Donna especially remarkable is her selflessness. She is always the first to thank others for their efforts, while quietly giving so much of herself to support those around her. Her compassion, dedication, and genuine love for students and the SDMS community make her exceptionally deserving of this recognition.

Highcrest School is proud to announce our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Jill Thompson!

Mrs. Thompson is an exceptional art educator whose positive impact is felt throughout the entire school community. She is deeply committed to inclusion, ensuring every student from kindergarten through sixth grade feels valued, capable, and inspired in her classroom. By thoughtfully adapting lessons to meet diverse learning needs, she fosters confidence, creativity, and meaningful participation for all students. Her passion for the arts extends beyond daily instruction through her highly anticipated “Artist of the Month” program, which introduces students to a wide variety of artistic styles and perspectives while encouraging them to see themselves as artists. Students eagerly participate each month and beam with pride when their work is featured during school wide morning announcements. Mrs. Thompson is also a dedicated advocate for arts education, leading memorable events such as the school wide art show, the town wide art show and the spectacular glow art show that brought families and students together in celebration of creativity. Above all, she creates a joyful and supportive environment where students feel safe to express themselves, take creative risks, and truly enjoy learning, making her exceptionally deserving of this recognition.

Congratulations Mrs. Thompson!
