With the conditions our area is in due to drought we need to be sure to take heed to this burn ban.

Burn Ban enacted by Gulf County - Effective immediately (03/31/26) No Burning - All open burning is prohibited due to extreme drought and critical weather conditions. These weather conditions aggravate a drought-stressed fire environment that has already supported impactful wildfires in North Florida. The weather will contribute to an environment that will support a high risk of new, large wildfires.

Wetappo Creek VFD took part in the snow-tivites this morning. Everyone just remember as pretty as the scenes are stay safe. There is a freeze warning again tonight and where the roads have not dried up can present icy conditions. Motorists take caution and if possible stay indoors until the conditions improve.

Reducing unnecessary travel during dangerous conditions is crucial to preventing accidents and ensuring that first responders can perform their duties efficiently. There will be slick icy spots on the roads, and especially on bridges. There may be power outages. Once the conditions deteriorate and are unsafe, first responders (ambulances 🚑 & Fire trucks 🚒) will not be able to respond and assist you. Please stay home and do not sightsee.

Even though at this point in time Tropical Storm Debby isn’t affecting our area, except with some wind and rain, you need to be prepared for some inconveniences. There may be power outages due to downed trees, some of which could be left over from Hurricane Micheal that haven’t fallen yet. Please be vigilant and cautious when driving the roads and please look out for first responders that may be out. We all appreciate that if you see our lights to slow down, and in the event we are working please be patient. Our safety as well as yours is always important. So stay safe and pray for those who may be in the direct path of the storm.
