Swerving out of senior year safely!

Today, our officers visited the seniors at Pine-Richland High School (PRHS) to debut our brand new DUI simulator!

While it looks like an arcade game, the reality check it provides is serious. We watched students realize firsthand how alcohol completely distorts their coordination and depth perception. It’s a fun way to teach a life-saving lesson: never get behind the wheel impaired. We loved answering their questions and hanging out with the Class of 2026! A huge thank you to PRHS for having us! Make good choices out there, seniors!

Who wants to try the simulator next? 👇

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to Pine Township for inviting the Northern Regional Police Department to join today’s beautiful Memorial Day celebration. It was a deeply moving tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes, and we are so grateful to everyone in the community who came out to remember and reflect with us.

During the ceremony, we were also thrilled to be a part of the announcement for Pine Township’s new Veteran Banner Program! Through this incredible community initiative, local veterans will be honored with tribute flags placed on light poles throughout the township. We are incredibly proud to share that several of our very own NRPD officers who are veterans will be featured on these banners.

Thank you, Pine Township, for your continued dedication to those who have served and for honoring the true meaning of this day. We are proud to serve this community.

Today, the Northern Regional Police Department pauses to remember and deeply honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

While this weekend brings our community together to mark the unofficial start of summer, the true meaning of Memorial Day is rooted in profound reflection and gratitude. We owe an unpayable debt to the heroes who laid down their lives so that we might live in freedom, peace, and safety.

Many of our own officers are proud veterans, and many more have loved ones who serve. We know firsthand the weight of the uniform and the spirit of service, making this day of remembrance especially meaningful to our department.

We stand with our entire community in honoring our fallen military members. Their courage will never be forgotten, and their legacy lives on in the freedoms we exercise every single day.

Please join us in taking a moment of silence today to remember these remarkable heroes and to keep their Gold Star families in your thoughts and prayers.

🚨 Happy EMS Recognition Day! 🚑 Let’s take a minute to recognize our favorite life-savers. We were totally going to write a serious post, but we decided to inject a little humor instead to get your heart rate up.

Let’s be honest: having you guys around is absolutely vital. You never fail to shock us with your incredible skills under pressure. You do the heavy medical lifting, which is why we proudly embrace our unofficial duties once the call is over. Whether it’s acting as your personal bellhops to carry those heavy jump bags back to the rig, or serving as professional door-holders so you can walk out looking like the VIPs you are, we’ve got your backs!

All jokes aside, the Northern Regional Police Department has a massive amount of love and respect for our EMS partners. We see you on the best days and the absolute worst days, and your compassion never wavers. You are the real deal.

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to the agencies who keep our community’s pulse going strong and constantly answer the call alongside us:

🚑
🚑 Richland EMS
🚑

And to all the other incredible EMS agencies, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers out there: thank you for the long hours, the missed meals, and for being the calm in the chaos. We can all breathe easy knowing you’re on duty.

If you see an EMS worker, give them a high-five and say thanks (just make sure they’ve taken their blue gloves off first!).

We might not be winning any land-speed records anytime soon, but today our hearts (and our lungs) are incredibly full!

This morning, the Northern Regional team laced up our running shoes and teamed up with our friends at the McCandless Police Department for the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Pennsylvania!

Together, we powered through just under three miles through the streets of Lawrenceville before handing off the “Flame of Hope” to the Allegheny County Police Academy. (We have to admit, those recruits looked much less winded taking the torch than we did handing it over! )

Cardio jokes aside, serving as “Guardians of the Flame” is truly one of the many honors we have in law enforcement. This 150-mile relay from PNC Park to Penn State is a powerful reminder of what happens when departments and communities come together for a fantastic cause.

A massive THANK YOU to all the officers who came out to run, sweat, and support the incredible Special Olympics athletes. And an even bigger shoutout to the Lawrenceville community! To everyone who stopped on the sidewalks, clapped, honked, and cheered us on—your energy is exactly what kept our legs moving when the hills tried to tell us otherwise.

The flame is making its way to State College for the Summer Games on June 4th! Best of luck to all the amazing athletes competing. You are the real heroes today and every day!

Officer Maverick is a true “Wingman”!

Here at the Northern Regional Police Department, we take “to protect and serve” seriously, even if the subject has wings! After a call about a bird stuck in a vent, Officer “Maverick” pulled off a high-flying, mid-air apprehension with a flawless “Starling” performance.

Witnesses say the suspect tried to “beak-off” but Maverick was too fast. No fines were issued, but the suspect was given a stern warning about trespassing and unauthorized air travel before being safely released back into the wild.

We don’t usually take flight, but we’re glad we could “vent” this issue and get the job done!
