13 years ago today, on April 1, 2013 the Weyers Cave Fire Company partnered with Augusta County Fire-Rescue to increase ambulance service to the Weyers Cave and Mount Sidney Areas.

Since it's implementation, Ambulance 2601 has been a vital asset to our community. Answering 473 calls in it's first year, it's call volume has steadily increased over the last decade answering 1,401 calls for service in 2025.

Happy Birthday ACFR Ambulance 2601.

Have you seen the green WCFC ladder truck in some random places during the last week?

In the Fire & Rescue service, the brother and sisterhood doesn’t just exist in your own station. Weyers Cave Fire Company is proud to be able to assist Augusta County Fire & Rescue by loaning Truck 5 to continue to provide a necessary service while ACFR Truck 11 is out of service.

Thanks to Aiden’s Fire Photography for catching this unique video of Truck 5 leaving Company 11 in Fishersville.

We at Weyers Cave Volunteer Fire Company send our heartfelt condolences to Deere Horns Homemade Ice Cream and families. They’re a staple at our yearly lawn party & have become a part of the WCFC family over the years.

Our heartfelt thanks go to those who have offered prayers and messages to our family. We kindly request your continued support and understanding as we cope with the loss of our Ice Cream Master ♥️, whose exceptional customer service skills and infectious smile will be deeply missed. His devotion to the business was inspiring, and we are grateful for your support.

Today at 2:54 pm the Weyers Cave Fire Company was dispatched for a field fire in the 2800 block of Lee Highway that was spreading rapidly.

Additional units were requested from the New Hope Fire Department, Grottoes Fire Department, Bridgewater Fire Department and the Virginia Department of Forestry.

The fire was under control within an hour. The fire that consumed part of the wooded area will smolder in the area for several days.

Units on scene included
Engine 52 (Weyers Cave)
Tanker 50 (Weyers Cave)
Brush 55 (Weyers Cave)
Engine 181 (New Hope)
Attack 185 (New Hope)
Tanker 15 (Bridgewater)
Brush 15 (Bridgewater)
Response 15 (Bridgewater)
Brush 206 (Grottoes)
Forestry 4
VDOF Dozer

It was determined that the fire was caused by a tree that had fallen into the power lines, igniting a grass fire.

Special thanks to the communicators of Augusta County Emergency Communications Center for managing all of the resources during this incident.

A sincere Thank You to everyone who braved the temps and wind for our Christmas Parade and visits with Santa this afternoon at the station. We understand that the conditions weren’t ideal for festivities, but a lot of planning and work goes into getting the different parades and events aligned in the area, rescheduling to a different day where busy volunteer schedules exist, is tough and almost impossible. We are happy to report that Santa will be making his rounds through the neighborhoods of Weyers Cave and Mount Sidney VERY soon. Stay tuned to Facebook for details to come! 🎅🏻🚒
