🚨Team Member Spotlight: Amanda Frieswick🚨

This month, we are excited to spotlight Amanda Frieswick, an EMT out of our Attleboro base!

Amanda recently graduated from Providence College with High Honors, earning her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. This fall, she will continue pursuing her passion for healthcare by attending UMass’s Master of Public Health program while applying to medical school. Alongside her role at Brewster Ambulance, Amanda also works as a technician at UMass Memorial–University Emergency Department.

During her undergraduate years, Amanda dedicated much of her time to organizations including Special Olympics, Unified Special Olympics, and Best Buddies - experiences that reflect her strong passion for service, inclusion, and patient advocacy. She is also passionate about women’s health advocacy and giving back to her community.

Outside of work and academics, Amanda enjoys reading, doing her own nails, and spending quality time with family and friends.

When asked about her favorite part of working at Brewster, Amanda shared:

“Working at the Attleboro Brewster base throughout my undergraduate years introduced me to an incredible group of individuals with diverse experiences, which greatly enriched both my clinical competence and my overall outlook on life.”

And of course, she also enjoys one of the best perks of the job - free Cumberland Farms drinks while in uniform….especially Diet Cokes!

Amanda’s compassion, dedication, and commitment to helping others make her an incredible part of the Brewster team. We are so proud of all she has already accomplished and look forward to seeing where her future in healthcare takes her!

A Parking Lot Delivery to Remember! 👶💝

Some calls are unforgettable.

On May 31, Brewster Ambulance Medic 3, CA10, and Brockton Ladder 1 responded to a report of a woman in active labor in a grocery store parking lot. With no time to make it to the hospital, our crews sprang into action.

Just six minutes later, they welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world right there on scene.

Mom and baby are doing well, thanks to the calm, skilled, and compassionate care provided by the responding crews.

Moments like these highlight the incredible training, professionalism, and dedication our EMS providers bring to every call. Whether responding to an emergency, providing comfort during a difficult time, or helping welcome a new life into the world, our teams are always ready to answer the call.

Please join us in congratulating the new family and recognizing these exceptional providers for a job well done. 👏👏

This week is National CPR & AED Awareness Week ❤️🚑

Knowing CPR and how to use an AED can make the difference between life and death. When every second counts, bystanders play a critical role in improving outcomes.

Take the time to learn. Be prepared. You could save a life.

06/03/2026

This week is National CPR & AED Awareness Week — and we think it's one of the most important weeks of the year 🫀

Here's a number worth knowing: Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere. When it does, every minute without CPR reduces the chance of survival by 7–10%. Bystander CPR can double or even triple survival rates. Visit American Heart Association to learn more about these statistics.

You don't have to be a medical professional to save a life. You just have to be willing to act.

This week, we're sharing tips, resources, and reminders to help our communities be ready. Stay tuned — and share this with someone who might need it.

Lights, sirens, and lots of smiles! 🚑✨

Yesterday, we visited Wilder Memorial Nursery School, where students had the chance to tour an ambulance, meet our crew, and learn a little about what happens when Brewster Ambulance comes to help.

Thank you for a fun morning and for all the great questions!

Paramedic 54 responded to a report of a male patient who was awake but unresponsive. Upon ALS arrival, crews quickly recognized the severity of the patient’s condition and requested additional resources, including a BLS ambulance. The patient was exhibiting signs and symptoms concerning for a stroke when paramedics witnessed the patient begin actively seizing. The seizure resolved prior to medication administration.

Following extrication to the ambulance, BA 139 arrived on scene to assist. Shortly after, the patient began actively seizing again and was medicated as crews initiated rapid transport to the appropriate facility.

While en route to the Emergency Department, the patient suffered cardiac arrest. Crews immediately initiated CPR and administered one round of Epinephrine. ROSC was successfully achieved after one round of CPR, and the patient was safely transported and delivered to a higher level of care.

This call highlights the importance of rapid assessment, teamwork, and coordinated prehospital care during a rapidly evolving, high-acuity medical emergency. Excellent work by all personnel involved. ❤️💪🚑

During EMS Week, two members of our team were recognized by the Massachusetts Ambulance Association with the Circle of Excellence Award.

Paramedic Steve Nelson and EMT-Advanced Michael Anchan were honored for their response to a critical motor vehicle crash involving a young patient with life-threatening injuries.

Arriving to find the patient unresponsive and heavily entrapped, they worked alongside fire personnel to manage the airway, initiate treatment, and coordinate rapid extrication. Recognizing the severity of the patient’s condition, they activated advanced resources early and continued aggressive care throughout transport, including IV access, medication administration, and coordination with a field transfusion unit.

Their clinical judgment, teamwork, and ability to operate under pressure were critical in delivering high-level care in a complex and time-sensitive situation.

We’re proud to have Steve and Michael representing Brewster Ambulance Service and setting the standard for what this work looks like every day.

Please join us in congratulating them on this well-earned recognition.
