HT David Philip Simpson So very grateful for this man's wisdom and know that He honors God from whom it comes.
When Things Are Upside Down
In the not-so-presidential debate, both candidates
of the two major parties along with political elites
displayed how things are upside down.
Despite struggles President Biden did fairly well
in my opinion. He appeared more coherent than
many other times. During the debate though, and
afterwards, leaders in the Democratic party and
from the left expressed dismay. They openly
discussed even finding another candidate. They
have lost faith in him, but certainly they have seen
this coming.
President Trump was typically pompous, boasting
that he was all success. There was little substance
and mainly put downs. He offered no plan as to
how he will avoid repeating his missteps and
being overcome again by corruption and
corporate capture. His candidacy is about himself
and payback.
Perhaps that is why in conjunction with the debate
an incredible email was sent from Texas Attorney
General Paxton stirring up his base. He
shamefully asserted, “It’s a time for vengeance”
for those “selfishly holding on to power.”
There is never a time to assume God’s prerogative
(Romans 12:17-21). Instead, it’s time for quite the
opposite.
It’s a time to cease from idolatrous trust in man
and parties, and even our particular form of civil
government. We should give honor and respect to
those in office. We should be grateful for our
constitutional republic and democratic forms. But
trust them? No.
The Prophet Isaiah boldly proclaims that nations
are nothing before God, even less than nothing.
Imagine that.
Why are things upside down? It is because God
rules. Retribution is God’s work, not ours. Pride
comes before a fall because he reigns. He turns
the wicked upside down.
Now is a time for reflection, humility and honesty.
It’s a time too for turning from opposing evil with
evil, violence and vitriol.
It’s a time for the meek to stand and pursue peace
with courage and wisdom. It’s time to trust in the
Lord of all, the Lord of history and revelation, the
Lord who sides with the lowly, and who loves
truth and righteousness.
Psalm 146 reminds us the Lord is our Creator,
Emancipator, and Healer, not princes. He is our
help. He is the hope of every nation.
Let us praise him. Wickedness cannot triumph. He
reigns and shall forever. With him, by him, and
living before him, wrong can be righted,
corruption can be rooted out and forgiven and
dignity restored.
Despite the dark clouds of CNN’s debate
depressing the left and instigating some
unrighteous thunder on the right, some gentle rain
fell in the storm, showing that God may not be
done with us yet.
Independent presidential candidate, Robert F.
Kennedy, Jr. has been speaking honestly in love,
with humility, trusting in his and our Creator and
providence. Despite being excluded by Presidents
Biden and Trump’s agreement and CNN from its
debate, Kennedy’s respectful and innovative live
response streamed on X and moderated by John
Stossel was watched by more than 6 million
viewers.
What is really at stake in this election is whether
or not we choose to perpetuate more of the same
with the same or look for help in the only true
sovereign who reigns over all with justice and
mercy and who promises that the meek shall
inherit the earth.
Kennedy is not our savior, but I believe God has
raised him up, even with all his weaknesses, to
turn us from proud partisan and patriotic idolatry
to humbly overcoming evil with wisdom that is
from above.
