As the community begins the recovery and rebuilding process following the recent severe weather event, residents are being urged to remain alert for potential scams targeting disaster victims.

Unfortunately, individuals attempting to take advantage of those affected by storm damage often appear during recovery efforts. Residents should use caution if contacted by individuals or companies offering assistance, repairs, or services.

Officials encourage residents to verify contractors, avoid making large upfront payments, and be cautious of unsolicited offers for help.

The State of Indiana has provided resources and guidance to help residents recognize and avoid becoming victims of fraud during disaster recovery.

Residents are encouraged to review this information and report any suspected scams to the appropriate authorities.

We are no longer accepting donations at this time. We are here for distribution today!
