⚡ Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Tips from the Moline Fire Department 🔋

Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day, from our phones and tools to e-bikes and scooters. But if they’re damaged or misused, they can pose a serious fire risk. Stay safe with these tips:

Buy only listed products. Look for safety certification marks, such as UL, ETL, or CSA, to ensure your device meets important safety standards.

Charge safely. Always use the cords that came with the product, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and charge on a hard, flat surface. Avoid overcharging and unplug the device once it is fully charged. Never store or charge in hallways, stairwells or paths of egress.

Recycle responsibly. Never throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash or regular recycling bins. Recycle them safely at a battery recycling location. Find one near you at:https://www.call2recycle.org/

We were honored to be asked to help out at the Cal-Wheat Homecoming game with Wheatland Ambulance and Calamus Fire. Med force delivered the game ball to Sheriff Bill Greenwalt, who then handed it to the head official.
