In celebration of , read about the Bruce Williams House and the Susan Silber House – two sites that are a part of the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties associated with LGBTQ+ leaders:

🦀 The Bruce Williams House is significant for its association with Bruce R. Williams, a retired LGBTQ+ activist and politician whose career focused on LGBTQ+ civil rights, social equality, and preparing the communities of the Chesapeake Bay watershed to survive climate change.

⚖️ The Susan Silber House is significant for its association with Susan Silber, a retired LGBTQ+ activist and lawyer. Silber specialized in family and labor law, and in that capacity, was involved in numerous influential cases seeking equitable treatment for LGBTQ+ families and workers.

Our Historic Preservation Office helps preserve and share these stories, places, and people who have shaped LGBTQ+ history in Montgomery County and Maryland 🌈

🌟 What could the future of Germantown look like? As we work on the Germantown Sector Plan Amendment, we've made some drawings that illustrate our early ideas for the Transit Center area, the MARC Station area, Germantown Plaza, Milestone Shopping Center and the Town Commons at BlackRock Center for the Arts: https://bit.ly/4fomCaS

Our vision so far is more walkable neighborhoods, safer streets, new gathering spaces, and better access to everyday destinations. We also want to expand housing choices and strengthen environmental resilience in Germantown.

We had an amazing time at Sunday’s Taste of Wheaton! 🎉🌞 🍴 🥤
Our The Wheaton Plan team connected with tons of residents, and heard great ideas for Wheaton’s future.

And how cool is this- last year's Wheels in Wheaton placemaking roller rink 🛼 and entertainment plaza behind our headquarters inspired a pop-up soccer field this year! ⚽🙌 in action!

Thank you to Wheaton Maryland for another great celebration of global flavors, local businesses, and community spirit.

On this day in 1966, activists stepped onto the shoulder of I-495 and began a 4-day, 66-mile march around the Capital Beltway to advocate for fair housing.

Activists from the Action Coordinating Committee to End Segregation in the Suburbs (ACCESS) viewed the Beltway as a symbolic “noose of segregation” that prevented Black families from moving out to the suburbs.

A little over one year later, the Montgomery County Council addressed housing discrimination by adopting a fair housing ordinance on July 20, 1967 and on August 15, 1968, a broad fair housing law that complemented the Fair Housing provisions of the U.S. Civil Rights Act of 1968.
