At the Diamond Youth Foundation (DYF) Annual Meeting on Saturday, I had the pleasure of recognizing several of our top donors and presenting them with the prestigious DYF Sponsor Pin. These individuals have demonstrated a consistent commitment to supporting our mission through their generous financial contributions, helping to make our work in the community possible.

The Diamond Youth Foundation (DYF) is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of the Maywood–Wheaton (IL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.. Through the Foundation, we are dedicated to positively impacting the lives of youth throughout Chicago’s western suburbs by supporting our Guide Right Mentoring Program and providing scholarships to deserving college-bound students.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all of our donors and supporters. Your generosity allows us to continue investing in the next generation of leaders and advancing our mission of achievement, mentorship, and service.

To all fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, father figures, mentors, and the men who help guide the next generation, Happy Father’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the men who lead with strength, wisdom, love, and integrity. We honor those who sacrifice, teach, protect, encourage, and inspire. Your guidance leaves a lasting impact on your families, communities, and all those blessed to call you Dad.

Black fathers continue to shatter the myth of the absent or uninvolved father that is too often portrayed in the media and, at times, within our own communities. Contrary to these negative stereotypes, research consistently shows that Black fathers are among the most involved and engaged parents. Through your presence, love, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment, you make an immeasurable difference in the lives of your children and the communities you serve.

As members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., we recognize that fatherhood is one of the greatest examples of Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor. Whether at home, in the classroom, on the sidelines, in the church, or throughout the community, fathers help shape the future through their example and dedication.

Brother, Pastor Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church partnered with 16 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), including Stillman College, to distribute a massive pool of scholarships.

During the church's annual College and Trade Scholarship Sunday, Pastor Bryant distributed a historic $5 Million in scholarships and opportunities, which included trade and technical school opportunities for 400 students.

Stillman College was among the selected HBCUs to receive these funding partnerships. For Stillman, the scholarship opportunities were established to support incoming students who participated in the band or choir, served as cheerleaders, or maintained at least a 2.5 GPA.

Stillman College is celebrating its 150th anniversary with an upcoming weekend in Atlanta (June 27–28). The celebration will conclude at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church for a special worship service alongside President Dr. Yolanda W. Page.

Black churches in Chicago are leading a growing movement called “Spend In The Black,” encouraging consumers to support Black-owned businesses and strengthen local economies through intentional spending. Led by Rev. Dr. Charlie E. Dates, the initiative brings together churches, entrepreneurs, elected officials, and community leaders around a simple idea: where we spend matters.

Organizers say the goal is to create lasting economic ecosystems, support Black business growth, and help keep more dollars circulating within Black communities.
