YOU did it!! YOUR VOICES have been heard! The DOE removed the Mid-West Plains Corridor (the Kansas-Missouri line) of the NIETC from its project board! We must stay vigilant and keep monitoring the situation, but for now this is great news! Thank you everyone for sending emails of concern to the Department of Energy!

A sincere note of gratitude is extended to Congressman Tracey Mann, Senator Roger Marshall, and Senator Jerry Moran for fighting in opposition to the NIETC project going through Kansas. In addition, thanks to the Kansas Farm Bureau for hosting educational forums all across the state to bring awareness to the issue. Kansans have pulled together in the same harness for months now and the effort culminated in a huge win.

The Republican bus tour across Kansas stopped in Belleville today! Thank you, Carolyn Simms, Republic County Republican Chair for organizing this gathering by working with State Republican Chair Mike Brown. Lots of good conversation, lots of positive viewpoints. Staying true to my 2020 campaign palm card statements of ProLife, ProAg and ProKansas have been my “North Stars” since my election in the fall of 2020.

The cool south wind didn’t seem to bother any of us! I appreciate Senator Bowers being there with me. Please exercise your right to vote on or before November 5th.

“Eternal rest grant unto Emma, Oh Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen”

A beautiful young lady, inside and out, was called to her forever home last night. Emma, your amazing smile and your warm and wonderful ways will be missed by many. Ride on, cowgirl. Lifting the entire Brunghardt family up in prayer.

Because of the perfectly behaved, amazing little Sim-cross heifer owned by Delaney Figge, and thanks to some show pointers by her and my other 4-H coach Dustin Denton, I was fortunate to be named Champion in the Annual Legislative Showmanship contest on September 7th at the Kansas State Fair.

We’ll be headed back to Topeka for a special session. Today Governor Kelly vetoed the tax bill that only 20 legislators did not support. It passed both the Senate and House chambers with overwhelming bipartisan support.

Elimination of taxes on social security, ending the food sales tax, lowering income tax, a reduction in property taxes. It is sustainable, which has been her main concern all along, and the Legislature agrees that it should be. There is strong bipartisan support for this tax package in the House and Senate. Please contact Governor Kelly today and kindly request that she sign SB 37.

Tax override votes yesterday in the House. (We needed 84 votes for a 2/3 majority. The totals reflect a truly bipartisan effort to deliver tax relief to all Kansans.)

HB 2036: Final vote: 104-15. Tax relief is on the way for all Kansans if the Senate overrides next week.

HB 2098: 99-20. Again, we need the Senate to have at least 27 votes in order to override the veto on these 2 bills.
