Today we proudly open Serving With Honor: DuPage County Veterans!
Every uniform tells a story, and behind each patch, medal, or mended tear is a person whose military service shaped not only their life but the history of DuPage County. Together, these stories remind us that history is not only made on distant battlefields, but also in the communities veterans return home to serve.
This latest exhibit will be on view through March 20, 2027.

Happy Caribbean American Heritage Month! This month we’re celebrating the fusion of Caribbean heritage. African music, dance, and folklore play major roles in Caribbean culture, manifesting in musical styles such as reggae, calypso, and soca. Architecture, language, and customs from European influences are interwoven into Caribbean cultural as well – from Spanish cathedrals to restored European forts and city layouts. Much of these traditions from Caribbean heritage have been brought into the United States by Caribbean Americans, and have been shared and enjoyed by communities around the nation.

Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014 is currently on its coast-to-coast "America 250" tour. Built in the 1940s to conquer western mountain grades, this massive machine is a true engineering marvel weighing in at 1.2 million pounds and reaching speeds up to 70 mph. Only 25 of these colossal trains were ever built, and No. 4014 is the only surviving one still in operation today. Missed it in Chicago or want to see where it goes next? Head over to the official Union Pacific Steam Program website to track its schedule and map out the remaining tour stops!

Happy Throwback Thursday and National Cheese Day! Long before modern packaging and refrigeration, wooden boxes like this were commonly used to transport and sell this delicious commodity. Our cheese box comes from the Schultz Hotel in Southern Illinois, but many parts of DuPage County were dairy farms until the 1920s.
