Cyclospora isn’t going away…

With 2 reported deaths in Michigan, it’s more important than ever to protect your family:

- Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly under running water before eating, cutting, or cooking – even if it is labeled pre-washed.
- Scrub firm fruits and vegetables, such as melons and cucumbers, with a clean produce brush.
- Cut away any damaged or bruised areas on fruits and vegetables before preparing and eating.
- Cooking can kill the parasite. Since washing alone cannot guarantee the parasite’s removal, you can cook produce to a temperature of at least 158 °F (70°C).

If you have explosive diarrhea lasting several days, especially after eating fresh produce, contact your healthcare provider.

Cyclosporiasis requires a specific antibiotic for treatment.

Every August, the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) hosts to encourage families, communities, and organizations to come together for action and conversations about how we can build a stronger support network for breastfeeding parents! 💖

This year’s theme is RISE, which stands for: Resilience, Interdependence, Self-determination, and Empowerment! 🐦‍🔥This year's theme was created by USBC to capture the heart and strength of the field while also honoring the change and growth that are still needed to further equitable access to breastfeeding support for all families.

WIC is here to help families navigate and meet their breastfeeding goals while offering nutrition education and support. To learn more about the WIC program or to schedule an appointment, call us at 630-682-7400 or visit www.dupagehealth.org. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reminds Illinoisans that its endorsement of the 2026 AAP Child & Adolescent Immunization Schedule remains unchanged, despite this week’s federal executive order. Years of research show the recommended vaccines are safe and effective. IDPH will continue to follow the science, with unanimous support from the Immunization Advisory Committee, to help families make informed health decisions.

Now is the time to make sure that children have all required immunizations before the start of the school year. Immunization requirements have not changed. Information for the 2026-27 school year can be found athttps://dph.illinois.gov/content/dam/soi/en/web/idph/publications/idph/topics-and-services/prevention-wellness/immunization/immunization-requirements-2026-2027.pdf
