We have set the dates for our events this year. Our 4th of July celebration will be held Saturday July 4th. Our 68th Annual Chicken BBQ will be held August 29th.

The Pine Hollow prescribed burn is planned today, February 26, 2026 on the Mark Twain National Forest. This is a 4,000 acre burn, being done in partnership with Roaring River State Park.

We are pleased to announce the following officer promotions within the Wheaton Fire Department. The promotions are a reflection of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to growing our department. Their new titles are below:

On Saturday, January 17, 2026, the Wheaton Fire Protection District hosted firefighters, board members, their families, and district supporters to celebrate 2025. The meal was provided by Libby's Cafe and entertainment by Joshua Kennedy of The Black Moods.

Those in attendance listened to a summary of the 2025 calls for service and activities, as well as the recognition of supporters by Chief Lindy Lombard. Following the introduction of board members and firefighters, awards were also presented:

First Responder of the Year: Steven Hendrix
Firefighter of the Year: Stu Lombard

A special memorial plaque was presented to the Lombard family in recognition of Kay Lombard. It memorialized her decades of service to the department and the citizens of Wheaton.

The Wheaton Fire Protection District would like to thank the community, surrounding departments, support services, and so many more for a safe and successful 2025. We look forward to continuing to serve the community in 2026.
