After missing for 3 decades, Plat Book 2 has found its way home to the DuPage County Recorder’s Office.
The DuPage County Recorder's Office invites you to join us on Friday, August 21, at 10:00 AM at the Recorder’s Office as we celebrate the return of this remarkable piece of DuPage County history.
But our story isn’t over.
Our office is still searching for Grantor-Grantee Index Books 15 through 20, some of the earliest land record indexes in DuPage County, dating from approximately 1835 through 1851.
Long before computers, these handwritten books helped people trace property ownership, locate deeds and document the growth of DuPage. They tell the story of how DuPage County was built one property at a time.
Unfortunately, these books have been missing for more than 100 years.
If you’ve inherited old books, purchased the contents of an estate sale, worked in real estate, surveying, title research, or law, or simply have boxes of old records tucked away, in a basement attic, or closet, please take a look.
While we celebrate the return of one historic book, we’re asking for your help finding the others. You never know, you may be holding another piece of DuPage County History.
