On Tuesday evening, May 5th, Mike Saulnier, President of the Sandhills Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution recognized several Whispering Pines Fire Rescue personnel for their life-saving actions at a medical emergency earlier this year. Tonight, at the Whispering Pines Village Council meeting, 6 members of the Whispering Pines Fire Rescue Department were recognized for their participation in a life save from February 17th. SECOND STRUCTURE FIRE OUTSIDE OF VASS OVERNIGHT

Emergency responders were dispatched just before 3:30 am to the 100 block of Jingle Bell Lane outside of Vass for a reported structure fire.

Firefighters had been at this location for a fire only hours earlier.

The first arriving responder reported flames and smoke showing from the single story residence with the home heavily involved in flames.

No one was home at the time of the fire this morning, so there were no injuries reported.

Responding included units with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Carthage Fire & Rescue, Whispering Pines Fire Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and Moore County Fire Marshal's Office.

The cause of the fire was not known as of this report.
