Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Observed on the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

📌 Reminder:
City offices and the Library will be closed today, Monday, September 7th, to observe Labor Day. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:15 am.

🗑️ Trash and recycling services will not be operational on September 7th, but will resume on Tuesday, September 8th.

🚓 🚒 As always, emergency services like Police and Fire are still operational.

The Stormwater Advisory Board of the City of White House will meet on Monday, September 14th, 2026. The meeting will take place at 4:00 pm in the Board Room of the Billy S. Hobbs Municipal Center located at 105-D College Street.

Per TCA Title 8, Chapter 44 regarding public meetings, a Public Comment section is on the meeting’s agenda. To speak during the Public Comment period, a sign-up sheet will be placed in the meeting location near the printed agendas and will be taken up just before the start of the meeting.

Due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 7th, trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day.

🗑️ Waste Management will pick up Monday’s route on Tuesday, September 8.

♻️ Recycling customers on the ODD WEEK schedule will also have their collection delayed by one day.

🌿🐝 Parks for Pollinators is back! 🦋🌸

The City of White House, Tennessee- Parks and Recreation is excited to participate in the NRPA Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz for the third year!

Throughout September, we’re inviting residents of all ages to get outside, explore our parks, trails, and green spaces, and help us discover the incredible variety of plants, insects, birds, and wildlife that call White House home.

📸 Last year, you helped document 160 species! This year, we’re ready to see what else we can find.

Participating is easy! Download the free iNaturalist app, create an account, and join our project: “Parks for Pollinators 2026: City of White House Parks and Recreation.” Then simply snap photos of the nature you discover and upload your observations.

Every observation contributes valuable information that can help support science, conservation efforts, and pollinator health — and it’s a fun way for the whole family to explore our community! 💚

🚧 ROAD DETOUR NOTICE 🚧

Drivers traveling in the Calista Road, Wilkinson Lane, and Oakwood Lane areas should be prepared for temporary road closures and changing detour routes as utility work continues.

Beginning Friday, September 4, Calista Road will be closed between the Wilkinson Lane and Oakwood Lane intersections while crews complete multiple utility line crossings.

🚗 Detour routes may include:
• Oakwood Lane and Carothers Way through the Fields at Oakwood subdivision
• Wilkinson Lane
• Volunteer Drive
• Other nearby residential streets as work progresses

⚠️ Please use extra caution and watch for changing traffic patterns. Detour routes may shift from day to day as crews move through the project area, and residents should expect additional traffic on nearby residential streets.

Please refer to the attached map for the current closure and detour route.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the week, weather and conditions permitting.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this necessary utility work is completed.
