For our first 🔥Member Monday🔥, we’re highlighting George Theodoroy and congratulating him on recently stepping into the role of Acting Fire Captain!
George is a career firefighter with Baltimore City and has made a big impact here at White Marsh. He brings a straightforward, “let’s get it done” attitude, plenty of experience, and a leadership style that has earned the respect of our members.
We’re excited to have him taking on this role and helping lead the company forward.
Get to know George a little better below! 👇
1. Why did you want to be Acting Captain?
I wanted the opportunity to mentor newer members, support our company, and help ensure we operate safely and effectively. I’ve spent years building credibility through consistency, accountability, and clear communication, and this role gives me the opportunity to apply those strengths.
2. What changes are you most excited to implement as Acting Captain?
More meaningful training, clearer communication, a continued focus on safety, and building strong morale within the station.
3. What I’d say to someone thinking about volunteering with a fire company
Volunteering with a fire company is a chance to serve your community in a way few people ever experience. It’s not just responding to emergencies, it’s becoming part of a team that relies on each other, trains together, and shows up for people on their worst days. If you’re willing to put in the time, learn the craft, and embrace the responsibility, you’ll gain skills, confidence, and a second family.
4. What’s your go to shift meal or snack?
Breakfast for dinner is a firehouse classic!
5. If you could pick one song to play every time the engine pulled out of the station, what would it be?
Lose Yourself - Eminem
