This is an update on our firefighter Carl Yonge from his wife
Please keep them in your prayers.
Update on Carl ❤️🙏
Carl went back to the ER yesterday morning and was transferred to Womack and is currently in ICU. Last night was touch and go, as the doctor wasn't certain that he'd make it thru the night. Carl made it through the night, and I’m clinging to that small mercy right now. The doctors have confirmed that he has metastatic gastroesophageal carcinoma with extensive spread throughout his liver and abdomen. He also has blood clots in both his IVC and portal vein. They had been treating those with blood thinners, but now the cancer spots in his abdomen have started bleeding because of the anticoagulation.
Last night, when they tried to drain the fluid from his abdomen, it came out as blood. They believe one of the tumors may have ruptured. It puts the doctors in such a difficult position—draining more fluid could cause another rupture, but leaving it is dangerous too because the blood is putting so much stress on his kidneys.
His kidneys have already begun to fail, causing electrolyte issues and acidosis, and that’s why he was admitted into the ICU. Because of all this, he now requires continuous dialysis. His liver is also struggling due to how heavily the cancer has involved it.
Carl has made the decision to start dialysis, and we are praying that it helps relieve some of the pressure and gives his body even a small chance to stabilize.
We’re leaning so hard on God right now. I’m exhausted, scared, and heartbroken watching him fight like this—but I also know God is still here in the middle of it all. Please keep praying for Carl… for strength, for comfort, for peace, and for God’s guidance over every doctor and every decision.
Thank you for loving us through this. Your prayers mean more than you’ll ever know. ❤️🙏
