More wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota is expected to move into the region tomorrow. At first this smoke will be aloft but through the day, more smoke will sink to the surface and as it does, air quality will quickly degrade. An Air Quality Alert has been issued from 12 AM tonight through 12 AM Thursday night.

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded most of the local area to an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening. The upgrade is due to increasing confidence in the potential for damaging wind gusts and large hail that could exceed golf ball size. A tornado or two still cannot be ruled out.

UPDATE: The Wind Advisory for portions of eastern Ohio, northern WV panhandle, and most of western Pennsylvania has been upgraded to a High Wind Warning. Gusts up to 55-65 mph expected.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 7 PM tomorrow (Sat 1/24) until noon Monday. Snow is expected to begin tomorrow evening and continue through Monday morning. Current forecasts call for 10–14" of snow, with locally higher amounts possible. Travel may become extremely difficult or impossible at times and should be avoided if you can. If you must travel, plan ahead and make sure you have a winter survival kit in your vehicle.

In addition, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect tonight through early tomorrow. Wind chills of -10 to -15 are possible.
