Before the internet changed how we communicate, keeping people informed about local government looked very different. On World Wide Web Day, we're reminded that access and accessibility matter, that civic engagement takes many forms, and that good government meets people where they are—in person and online.

Thank you to everyone who follows the Board's work through our website, meeting platform, and social media. It’s our honor to help keep Westchester residents informed.

A highlighter. A USB drive. A toy.

Some va**ng products are intentionally designed to look like everyday items, making them easier to hide from parents and school staff.

Last night, the Westchester County Board of Legislators unanimously passed a bill banning the sale of these deceptive va**ng products.

This month, participate in Plastic-Free July by taking small steps toward big changes in habits.

♻️Refuse disposable items like plastic bags, bottles, cups, straws, and food packaging by choosing reusable alternatives and taking supplies from home for use on the go.

♻️Do you forget your reusable shopping bags at home? Happens to all of us! Gather up all the bags from your entryway, mudroom, or garage and put them in the car today!

♻️Shopping locally is good for your local economy and great for the environment. Online shipping generates 5x more packaging waste than traditional shopping. Take a break from eCommerce for the month.

1776 history right here in Westchester!

Legislators attended the unveiling of the County’s historic Holt Broadside–one of only five surviving copies of the Declaration of Independence that were printed in Manhattan on July 9, 1776 by John Holt.

The County’s copy was read aloud on the steps of the White Plains courthouse on July 11, 1776, to get the word out that the 13 colonies had acted as one to sever political ties with England.

The exhibit, The Declaration Distributed: Westchester County’s Holt Broadside of 1776, will be open to public view at the Neuberger Museum of Art, SUNY Purchase, beginning July 4th. Don’t miss it!
