Family Ties of Westchester, Inc.

Family Ties of Westchester, Inc. We provide peer support, education, and advocacy services to families raising children with emotional or behavioral challenges.

Family Ties offers a wide range of support groups, advocacy services, parent coaching, and connection to community resources, as well as respite and youth development opportunities. We recognize you, the caregiver, as a full partner in planning for your family's success based on your family's unique strengths and culture. The majority of our service staff have struggled, just like you, with their

own children's challenges and have personal experience in accessing services and supports for their own families. We act as the family voice in a variety of meetings to ensure that families' thoughts and concerns are heard. All Family Ties services are free, confidential and community-based. We have a "never give up" philosophy and will be here to support you for as long as you need us.

September is National Recovery Month—a time to honor the strength of the recovery community and celebrate every step on the path toward healing. 💜🌱

Recovery is built on hope, resilience, and human connection. Access to compassionate care, modern support practices, and a non-judgmental space can truly transform lives—not just for individuals, but for the families and dedicated providers walking alongside them.

At Family Ties, we believe no family should navigate life's challenges alone. Our peer support groups offer a safe space for caregivers and families to find understanding, strength, and local resources.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we hold space to honor the loved ones we’ve lost, support those living with substance use, and stand alongside families navigating grief and recovery.

Overdose continues to affect people, families, and communities everywhere. While the path isn't simple, there is hope—overdose is preventable, and taking compassionate, evidence-based action can save lives.

No one should ever have to walk this path alone. Together, we can break the stigma, lead with empathy, and connect families with the resources they need. If you or someone you love is seeking support, Family Ties is always here to listen and walk alongside you 💜

Grief is a deeply personal journey, and it rarely follows a set timeline or predictable path. Today, on National Grief Awareness Day, we recognize that loss impacts everyone differently—and no one should have to carry it alone. 🕊️🌿

Healing isn't about "getting over" a loss; it's about giving yourself grace and building a supportive circle around you.

A few gentle reminders for today:

💜 Take your time: Grief has no expiration date—go easy on yourself.
🤝 Reach out: Leaning on others for support is an act of strength.
🌱 Check in: A simple text to someone who is grieving can mean the world.

At Family Ties, we offer a safe, judgment-free space where families and caregivers can find peer support and understanding. Tap the link in our bio to connect with our support groups and local resources.

Teamwork, sunshine, and a little quiet time in nature. 🌿

Our Family Ties team took a step back from our daily work earlier this week for a staff outing to the beautiful Untermyer Gardens right here in Westchester! It was a wonderful opportunity to recharge, connect with one another, and celebrate the heart and soul of our organization—our incredible staff.

When we take care of ourselves and support each other, we can show up even stronger for the families we serve every day. 💙

Today is International Youth Day, a time to celebrate the energy, creativity, and resilience of the young people shaping our world. 🌟✨

This year’s theme, "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations," highlights youth overcoming severe hurdles worldwide—from economic barriers to geographic isolation. Regardless of their environment, young people share a powerful determination to innovate and drive positive change.

No matter where a young person grows up or what challenges they face, having a reliable circle of support makes all the difference. At Family Ties, we are dedicated to helping our local youth find their voice, build resilience, and access the resources they need to thrive.

How are you encouraging the young leaders in your life today? Drop a message of support in the comments below! 👇💙

August is National Black Business Month, a time to celebrate and invest in the vibrant Black entrepreneurs who make our communities strong.

Black-owned businesses drive local innovation and keep our neighborhoods thriving. This month—and every month—is a chance to honor their impact and help bridge funding gaps by putting our purchasing power where it matters most.

Here’s how you can show your support this August:
🛍️ Shop Local: Seek out Black-owned businesses right here in Westchester—from your morning coffee spot to local retail and professional services.
📢 Spread the Word: Share your favorite Black-owned businesses on social media, leave five-star reviews, and tell a friend.
🤝 Connect & Champion: Build partnerships and advocate for Black business owners in your network.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to support a parent. Today is International Day of Friendship, and it's the perfect reminder of how essential strong bonds are to our emotional resilience and happiness.

For parents and caregivers, finding true peers—the friends who listen without judgment, swap survival stories, and celebrate the small wins—is completely life-changing. These connections give us a soft place to land and remind us that we aren't alone on this journey.

Reach out to a fellow parent or a friend who makes your world a little brighter today, and thank them for being a part of your village. Tag them in the comments below to let them know you're thinking of them!
