Last week Local 274 was honored to present Ronald McDonald House Westchester with a check for $16,000 netted from the proceeds of our annual “Battle of the Badges” charity cup hockey game. We are always proud and humbled to be able to work with such a wonderful organization.

Our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the Chicago Fire Department Firefighters Union - Local 2, and to the family of Michael Altman. Michael was tragically lost following severe injuries he received while battling a fire on the North Side of Chicago. He leaves behind a young son and a pregnant wife.

It’s been a very busy two weeks for our executive board and our membership. Starting at the New York State Professional Firefighters Association - NYSPFFA Legislative Conference in Albany, we then headed back up to the capital a few days later for the massive “FIX TIER 6!” rally, advocating for NY State Tier 6 members’ pension reform. Directly from Albany, executive board members flew to Washington DC for the International Association of Fire Fighters Legislative Conference, lobbying our politicians for the rights and benefits of our brothers and sisters across the country, where we were able to grab a quick word and photo op with General President Edward A. Kelly. Then finally last night, President Mike Ingham attended a small private event with Governor Kathy Hochul, hosted by NY State Senator Nick Spano, where he was able to speak privately with the Governor regarding issues pertinent to our members and firefighters across the state.

Today marks the 33rd anniversary of the line of duty death of our brother Warren Ogburn. Warren was killed in a wind-driven fire at 235 S. Lexington Ave, a fire that also sent 3 firefighters to the burn unit, injured 39 civilians and displaced over 90 people. We keep his memory alive and remember him always.

Arrival conditions last night at 3 Lafayette St, went to a 2nd alarm. Fire started in a basement crawl space and ran up the side of the house and into the interior. Crews deployed hand lines on every floor to get on top of it. An oven fire came in at 4 Martine Ave while companies were operating on Lafayette, bringing a 3rd alarm assignment into the city. Thanks to all of our mutual aid partners for the support and great stop by the brothers of Group 3

Proceeds for this event will benefit one of our favorite charity’s, the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley. BG Entertainment, White Plains Professional Fire Fighters - IAFF Local 274, and Wolf and Warrior Brewing Company are joining forces again for the Be Great Give Back movement!
