Congress has announced a new oversight task force targeting nonprofits and what it calls “illegal DEI.” The problem is that term remains dangerously vague.

For organizations like SNSC, this raises serious concerns. Disability inclusion, accessibility, and belonging are not “illegal.” They are protected civil rights. The ADA and disability rights laws remain federal law.

When support for marginalized communities is framed as suspicious or political, it creates fear, stigma, and risk for the very organizations working to ensure people with disabilities can fully participate in community life.

SNSC will not back away from our mission. We will continue fighting for a community where people with disabilities are seen, valued, protected, and included.
