Over the next week, we'll honor some of the winners of this year's , a cash award we've given to farming & forestry students at VT's tech high schools since '05.
🎉Congrats to Trevin Shute of Hartland, who just graduated from Hartford Area Career and Technology Center, HACTC in White River Junction. From a young age, he knew he wanted to work on his family's dairy farm.
“We have a 130-head and growing," said Trevin. "This is the most Shute Farm has ever had. My hope is to continue growing the farm. There’s nothing better than working on your own land with your own animals everyday!”
His natural resources instructor, Matthew Dragon, nominated him for the award. He said Trevin harvested crops for Willing Hands, performed forestry work for the Hartford Town Forest, and helped with a local lake trout breeding program. Through school, he also worked for Lemax Dairy, where he learned skills to bring back to his family farm.
