Pick Your Passion!
Explore hands-on learning in conservation, natural resources, regenerative agriculture, food and forest systems, soil science, agroforestry, watershed health, policy, civics, permaculture, and climate solutions.

We work with students across all degree programs and subject areas to ensure internships qualify for high school or college/graduate-level credit.

Farm Force (All interns, 2x/month):
All interns participate in Farm Force, our community-based workforce initiative supporting local farms and food systems. Through organized work brigades, interns spend two days per month helping farmers get critical work done: strengthening our local food system and building long-term resilience.

This is an opportunity to contribute to real work at the intersection of land, food, and policy.

We have 3 Farm Force volunteer opportunities for helping farmers farm this month. Please share with your networks!

Join us November 18, 19, or 22 from 1-4 PM to help local livestock farms plant trees for their new agroforestry systems! This Fall, we are distributing hundreds of edible and pollinator-friendly trees through our Free Tree for Livestock Program, sponsored by Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, American Farmland Trust, and the White River NRCD.

Transportation is available from White River Junction - Hop aboard the Farm Force bus with us!

We will provide shovels, equipment, and snacks. Please bring gloves and water! Sign up for a slot on our events page on our website! Link in bio.

5PM - 7PM: Forest Kitchen Dinner

Featuring Our Guest Chefs

✨ Chef Kyra Kristof (Massachusetts)
Creator of Forest Kitchen dinners, Chef Kyra offers a unique culinary experience that intertwines food, art, and ecology. Her gatherings are more than meals—they are immersive events designed to deepen participants’ connection to local ecosystems and foster a sense of community.

✨ Chef Reuben (U.S. Virgin Islands)
Chef Reuben brings the vibrant flavors and traditions of Caribbean cooking, rooted in island agriculture and a deep respect for local foodways.

Together, the chefs and community cooking class participants will craft a farm-to-table feast that blends Vermont’s seasonal abundance with Caribbean flavors—using foraged ingredients, perennial crops, and contributions from local farms—to create a dinner that is as meaningful as it is memorable.

🌿This workshop led by Mike Bald of Got Weeds? will cover species identification, safety protocols, and the best methodologies for removing some of the most common invasive species in our watershed, including Bittersweet, Buckthorn, Euonymus, Multiflora Rose, and Knotweed. Learn and lend a hand to support the ecological diversity of this beautiful area.

Where: Warner Meadows, Hopson Road, Norwich, VT. There is no formal, physical address for Warner Meadows, so we suggest copying and pasting the pinned location into your maps app. There will be signage directing you on where to go.

Warner Meadows is on the north side of Hopson Road, just across the bridge over Bloody Brook, and directly across from Hillside Road. Parking is limited, with just a few spaces available on small gravel pull-offs on both sides of the road, across from and at the entrance to Hillside Road. The best parking is along Brookside.

When: Tues, Aug. 26th, 9-12 pm

Please bring: Gloves, eye protection, a water bottle, and lunch. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Co-sponsors: Warner Meadows Association, Norwich Conservation Commission, Vermont Center for Ecostudies
