Attention small businesses: 2026 Downtown and Village Center Tax Credit Program now accepting applications

In FY2027, roughly $3.5 Million in state income tax credits are available. Credits are awarded to projects that improve building safety, attract new business, and create jobs. Projects must be within a state-designated downtown, or village center - in the Town of Hartford, this includes: Quechee, Hartford Village, and Downtown White River Junction.

Funding supports general rehabilitation and code compliance work. The program also funds flood mitigation upgrades and exterior façade improvements.

Applications for the next round of tax credits are now available and are due Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

A big thank you to the Hartford Garden Friends for the countless hours they spend planting, weeding, watering, and caring for more than 20 garden beds and planters throughout Hartford.

For more than 30 years, this dedicated group of volunteers has helped make our community more beautiful and welcoming. The colorful flowers and pollinator-friendly gardens we enjoy around town are a direct result of their hard work and commitment.

Thank you, Hartford Garden Friends, for all that you do!

Construction on Phase 1 of the Town of Hartford CSO Abatement Project is scheduled to begin June 8 in Wilder and White River Junction. This work will separate stormwater catch basins from the sewer system to help improve water quality and reduce combined sewer overflows.

Work is expected on Hartford Avenue, Bullard Street, Lily Pond Road, Passumpsic Avenue, Spring Circle, Lower Hyde Park, and Walsh Avenue through June 24.

Residents may experience temporary traffic impacts and are encouraged to use caution in active work zones. We appreciate your patience as this infrastructure improvement project moves forward.

The Clifford Park Food Forest is off to a great start for the 2026 season!

A dedicated group of volunteers recently gathered to assess spring growth, plan priorities for the year ahead, and prepare areas for future cover cropping. The team also discussed upcoming projects, including expanding the successful wildflower meadow, improving soil health, installing the food forest kiosk, and offering permaculture workshops.

This year's goals include increasing community engagement, beautifying the site, building healthy soil and biodiversity, and expanding educational opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who joined the work party and continues to support this community-driven project. The next volunteer work party is planned for June; stay tuned for details!
