REMINDER: City buildings will be closed today in observance of Veterans Day. Trash will run on its regular schedule and emergency services will be on duty.
Did you know that at Light the Night we will have two Marines collecting your donation for this years Toys for Tots Drive? Last year the City of White Settlement collected over 20 boxes of toys, 23 bicycles, and 12 scooters. Your donation goes to their mission of providing toys, books and other gifts to children. Let us make this the best year yet! Collections boxes are located at City Hall, Senior Center, Library, Police and Fire Departments.
This year we will once again be taking part in the Toys for Tots holiday toy drive. Toys For Tots is an organization that collects new unwrapped toys and distributes them to less fortunate children at Christmas. Beginning on November 1st, we'll have donation boxes at City Hall, the Police Station, the Fire Station, Senior Center and at the Library. You can bring a new, unwrapped toy to any of these drop off stations and help make Christmas special for those in need.
We had a great summer at the Library this year, with over 1,500 participants joining us for a variety of programs and events, including Storytimes, TinkerLab, and Teen Summer Club. At the end of each week we hosted performers for our Summer Shows, which included music, magic, animals, and more. The reading program had over 200 participants earning over 400 prizes – that’s a lot of reading!
Summer may be coming to an end, but there’s always things to do at the library. Keep an eye out for our fall calendars, which include storytimes, TinkerLab, our annual Storybook Pumpkin Contest, and lots more!
If you haven't been by the area in a while, here's a look at the progress that's been made on the new McDonald's on the south end of Las Vegas Trail. The grand opening is approaching fast! And see that lot just past it where work is being done? Work has officially begun on the new Kentucky Fried Chicken location!
If you're not making plans to attend our Rock the Boat event on September 10th then you're going to miss out on what promises to be one of our greatest events of the year. Participants in multiple age divisions will race in cardboard boats across the SplashDayz wave pool seeking prizes, glory, and some big laughs! It's not too late to sign up to build and race your own cardboard boat! https://whitesettlement.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=96

Light the Night
On December 4th we’ll be holding our annual Light the Night Christmas Event. This event consists of a nighttime parade followed by a gathering at Veterans Park where there will be vendors(both food and non-food) and more fun surprises. We are currently seeking parade participants as well as vendors. Being a parade participant is a great opportunity to promote your business or organization and have fun doing it. For vendors, the vending area gives you a chance to connect with potential customers who may be looking to pick up some holiday gifts and treats. If you’d like to learn more about being a part of this event, please visit www.wstx.us/parade
