Swim Lessons and illness: Swim students showing potential symptoms of COVID-19 or other severe illnesses will not be able to participate in lessons. Instructors reserve the right to remove sick children from lessons until their symptoms improve.
Lessons: Students grades pre K-8 are invited to participate, and all swimming levels are welcome. Swim lessons will be appropriate for ALL abilities. More advanced swimmers will work on proficiency in the six major strokes while newer swimmers will learn the basics they need to build up to stroke swimming. Lessons will be conducted according to the Red Cross Learn to Swim standards. Kat Newcombe (Certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and lifeguard) will be conducting swim lessons with the assistance of Darlene Newcombe.
Sign-up and Swim Placement: Monday, 6/19
Arrive any time between 12:30 and 3:30. Individual swim placements will take less than 10 minutes, but you will have paperwork to fill out. Placements will be performed in the order of arrival.
Be ready to get in the water! Students will be assessed individually on their in-water skills.
A celebration of each student’s achievements will be on Friday, 6/30. Please bring some snacks to help celebrate. Achievement cards will be given to all participants so they can track their progress.
Please plan on committing to the full two weeks of lessons.
When: After assessments, swim lessons will be weekdays, starting Tuesday 6/20 and ending with the celebration on Friday, 6/30.
Schedule: Students will be placed in groups after
Monday’s swimming placement (6/19). Participants will be notified of class times that evening.
We anticipate starting the lower swim levels at 12:30 and finishing with the higher swim levels by 3:30.
However, times are not set and will vary depending on the number of participants and their skill levels.
To Bring: Come in your bathing suit, have sunscreen applied, and bring a towel and hairties! Water shoes and goggles are optional, though not recommended for some students. Ask the instructors at sign-ups!
Other: Parent/guardian must be on site during lessons. For any questions, please text Kat
