Weekly update 10/5-10/12: On 10/5 at 5:22pm, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 4700blk N Diversey for a registration violation. The driver was arrested for operating after revocation and OWI-2nd. He gave a breath sample of 0.17. On 10/7, the Brewers won. On 10/10, 2 bikes were stolen from the 5700blk N Santa Monica. On 10/11, the Brewers won. On 10/12, the Brewers won and the weather was great. 😎⚾

Weekly update 9/28-10/5: 2 vehicle window smashes were reported on the night of 9/29 into 9/30. There was one more reported on 10/4. On 10/4 at 4:36am, officers arrested 4 subjects near the intersection of Santa Monica/Hampton for doing vehicle window smashes. Some stolen items were located on the subjects and they admitted to doing window smashes. They did not admit to any of the other recent window smashes.

On 10/2 at 7:53pm, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 700blk E Glendale for driving without headlights on. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for OWI. She refused to give a breath sample.

On 10/4 at 12:11am, we received multiple 911 calls of a male and female fighting in the road in the 700blk E Henry Clay. The male subject had smashed the female subject's phone, and the two were arguing in the street and in a nearby apartment. The male subject resisted arrest and was tased. He was arrested for disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, resist/obstruct arrest and a warrant.

Yes, friends. CLOSED.
As in: ❌ no driving through
❌ no moving the barricades
❌ no “I’ll just squeeze through”
❌ no taking your vehicle on a scenic tour of someone’s lawn 🌱

We promise, Santa Monica and Port Road are still there. You do not need to launch a Dukes of Hazzard audition to get to them. 😂

And for those thinking, “But what if I move the barricade really carefully?”

Congratulations. You have just upgraded your afternoon from “minor inconvenience” to “conversation with a police officer.” 👮‍♂️

Traffic signs are not suggestions. Barricades are not puzzles. Lawns are not detours.

Ignore the signs and you may receive a ticket — because apparently sometimes we have to personally explain what the giant orange signs were trying to tell you. 🚧

🚲🚲 Legal e-bikes do not exceed 750 watts, have functional pedals and do not exceed a top speed of 28mph. Class 1 & 2 e-bikes have a top assist speed of 20mph. Class 3 e-bikes have a top assist speed of 28mph and require the rider to be 16+. E-bikes and e-scooters must follow traffic laws when being operated on Village streets. That means stopping at stop signs and following traffic lights. Riders over the age of 12 should be riding on the street and not the sidewalk. If on the sidewalk, riders need to yield to pedestrians. If you are buying your child an e-bike, know what you are buying and discuss safety tips with them. Need help with what to discuss?!? Weekly update 9/21-9/28: 3 entry to vehicles (600blk E Day, 700blk E Day, 5800blk N Shore). In 2 of the cases, the vehicles had a window smashed, and in the other, the vehicle was unlocked. The new Sendik's opened on 9/23 🥳. 4 hours into being open, a man was arrested and cited for stealing $69.92 worth of merchandise 😬. On 9/26 at 00:31am, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 5500blk N Santa Monica for speeding (58 in a 25). The driver showed signs of impairment, refused field sobriety testing and was arrested for OWI. He refused to provide a breath sample.

Weekly update 9/14-9/21: On 9/14 at 10:53pm, officers responded to Klode Park for a complaint of loud music and people jumping on a car parked near the park. Officers located 4 people in/around a car being loud and boisterous. Officers observed ma*****na and a fi***rm in plain sight in the vehicle and several of the occupants showed signs of alcohol impairment, despite not being of legal drinking age. When officers attempted to identify the individuals, 1 person provided a fake name. As officers attempted to arrest 1 subject, they resisted arrest. All 4 were eventually arrested. Citations/charges issued: 2 resisting/obstructing, 4 park hour violations, 1 ma*****na possession, 1 OWI, 1 armed while intoxicated, 1 underage drinking.

Between 9/17-9/18, an unlocked vehicle was entered in the 4800blk N Shoreland. Various items (including a fi***rm) were stolen.

On 9/20 at 4:39am, an officer stopped a vehicle for not stopping at the flashing red light at Santa Monica/Henry Clay. The driver was arrested for OWI and gave a breath sample of 0.12.

UPDATE:

This is an update to the press release from Sunday, September 20th, 2026, regarding a report of suspicious behavior involving a male driving a small silver/gray four-door sedan approaching two juvenile females. Video from a doorbell camera in the area was provided that may show the vehicle involved. A
screenshot of the video is shown below.
