Disabled Wisconsin voters say absentee law not followed

YES! People with disabilities CAN have assistance in returning their absentee ballots.

Disabled voters say local election leaders across Wisconsin are not following federal law during early voting in the high-stakes race for state Supreme Court, incorrectly telling them they canโ€™t have another person return their absentee ballot for them.

Good Morning Members,

I hope to find you well. I did hear the weather and they said there is a chance of rain starting tomorrow and there is a change of snow on Thursday. So, we arenโ€™t done yet with possible snow. We will also be approaching Easter. I am excited because I will plan on also going to the Milwaukee Zoo, spending time with family, and trying new restaurants.

I tend to work over my vacations and I am going to not be doing that this time because I respect when others have time off and I need that to be true for when I am on vacation too. I hope the weather is going to be nice, so that I can got out every day and do something.

There is so much to do around Milwaukee and the news shares that nightly after the 6 oโ€™clock news. I am just so thankful that I am able to get out while I can. I know there are a lot of changes with the food share programs, but I am going to look into food pantry options and keep an eye on what is going on with this. If you have questions, please reach out to me. If you see me at disability advocacy day we can also touch base on this and we can see what we can do. Churches are a good place to look for food panties, I know my church has an option and there are stock boxes for people that are older. I know it can be a struggle to have to choose paying rent over buying food, but it is important to keep yourself healthy and to eat.

Image Description: Yellow flowers float on a blue background. A few darker specks of blue float around them. The text reads, light will meet you on the path--Morgan Harper Nichols

Here in this life you will feel many things. You will laugh and you will let go. You will gather stories, and you will grieve. You will be interrupted by Light. You will find gold in little things. You will have questions that lead to answers and you will have questions you sit with for yearsโ€ฆ you will long for days to come, and you will learn to find joy right here. You will watch old things drift away and you will see new things take shape. You will look back on old years in awe of the ways youโ€™ve changed. And over and over, things will change and you might feel a little afraidโ€ฆ and you will also find there is grace to take this day by day. Take heart, here in the change. Youโ€™ll still bloom, day by day.

May the extra hour of sleep remind you are worthy of rest. May the text from a friend you havenโ€™t heard from in a while remind you: someone does care. May the well-worn sweatpants you put on today remind you of how you have taken care of your things in a mindful way.

May the scent that ignited a positive memory remind you that even in the most difficult things, you still managed to keep that beautiful moment with you. May the breath that leaves your body remind you how even here, amidst all you are holding, you are capable of release. May the sight of the ever-moving clock remind you that tomorrow is on its way, and even though it is unknown, you do not have to be afraid.

Light will meet you on the path. Hope will last. Joy is right here.

1.) I can't make that. 2.)I love that place, and I have so much to do this week, so I'll have to pass 3.)I really appreciate this invite, Saturday is my busy day so I can't squeeze this in 4.) Now isn't a good time for me 5.)That sounds great though I am taking some downtime on the weekends.

Letโ€™s talk boundaries.

Saying no is one of the most important boundaries we have.

As children, we freely said no. When we didnโ€™t want to do something, when we didnโ€™t want to engage with someone, or when we needed to have our own needs met before another.

Then we became conditioned.

We were taught to ignore our own needs to be polite or to please someone else.

Practiced over and over again, this became codependency. We are uncomfortable asserting our needs. We feel guilty at even the thought of disappointing someone else.

So as adults, we say yes when we mean no.

Or, we deliver our โ€œnoโ€ with profuse apologies and explanations. Then, we sit with guilt for days over it.

This is how codependency manifests.

We have every right to say no. We should be practicing no regularly. No is both healthy and a confidence builder.

Itโ€™s also a great way to see the level of emotional maturity in our relationships. Healthy, mature adults can hear and respect โ€œnoโ€ AND feel disappointed or any other emotion.

To practice setting the โ€œnoโ€ boundaries, just become aware when you turn down invitations or requests. I was shocked at how many times I apologized or over explained when I first started. Sometimes Iโ€™d even apologize if I was in peoples way. All of this is just self awareness.

My conditioning was coming to the surface.

โ€œNoโ€ is your right. There is nothing to apologize for

Holi(the festival of colors) is an ancient Hindu tradition & one of the most popular festivals in Hinduism. It happens every year after a full moon in March. Holi celebrates how good wins over evil & spring coming to India. People gather wood for lighting a bonfire(Holika) in the middle of the city. On Holi (Dhuleti) kids & adults come out of their houses and smear each other with bright colors. They exchange sweets, forgive grudges and sing songs. Holy Hai!

"Many of us donโ€™t drive, have physical limitations or health conditions, so we need to vote absentee. Caregivers, family and neighbors have provided assistance by placing ballots in the mail or returning them to the clerk.
