A big thank you to Arthur, who recently sent us his original library card along with this beautiful note:

“I thought I’d return my card as it served me well during my youth. I spent many, many hours in the library while it was in the basement of city hall and especially in the new building after the move. I loved that place. So here it is. My card full of memories.”

Our guess is that this was the #330 library card issued back when we started issuing cards, some time in the 1950s. #wfbpl #exciteyourmind

Today was our last day of outdoor storytime for the summer, and we just wanted to thank all of the wonderful families who attended. It meant the world to us to have in-person storytimes again, and our beautiful School House Park was a perfect setting.

During June, July, and August, we did 15 outdoor storytimes and we estimate that over 750 kids and grown-ups attended. And, we never had to cancel due to weather!

More good news? We will be continuing outdoor storytime into September and October, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am, starting September 9th. You can learn more about the dates on our website: https://www.wfblibrary.org/our_events/?m=9&y=2021

Are you one of our neighbors without power? Our wonderful JCC is opening their doors to help out those in need of assistance. Check out the details below.

(WFBPL is also open today until 4pm, if you are in need of a place to stay the day.)

While our partners at We Energies work to restore service throughout our community, the JCC is open to any local resident seeking a place to cool down, take a shower, or recharge (personally or device-wise.)

Simply visit the Peck (north) entrance of the JCC in Whitefish Bay, check-in as a free guest, and go about your day. (Please bring a photo ID and an adult guardian for any minor!) We’ll provide the towels, locks, and air conditioning!

The electricity will be back before we know it – but we know that this community is truly powered by partnership, kindness, and shared values.

Please #Share this message far and wide to help up create spaces and opportunities for the entire community. #JCCMilwaukee #poweroutagemilwaukee #poweroutage
