Did you know? The Village encourages and supports block parties as a way of promoting friendly neighborhoods—and they have become a popular local tradition! To request a block party on your street, simply follow the steps below.

▪ Fill out a block party request form, available on the Village website: http://www.wfbvillage.org/DocumentCenter/View/329
▪ Bring the completed form to Village Hall (5300 N Marlborough Dr), or email it to Erin Aeschbacher, at [email protected].

We will review your request and send you a letter outlining whether you have been approved or denied. Certain busy streets are not permitted to be blocked off. These include Lake Drive, Oakland just south of Hampton Road, Silver Spring Drive, and Marlborough Drive. Please note: The resident applying for the block party is responsible for inviting everyone on their block and notifying them of the street closure.

If available, Village barricades will be delivered to your block the Friday before the block party and picked up the following Monday. In the event that all Village barricades are in use, you will have to supply your own barricades; please do not use cars. If the party continues after dark, all barricades must have lights in some fashion as to pass on-site inspection by the Police Department.

We hope you can spend some quality time with your friends and neighbors this summer!

𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 - 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: In November 2020, the Village Board approved a $180,038.10 grant for the restoration and mitigation of the Klode Park Shoreline. The grant includes a 75% Federal cost share ($135,028.58), a 12.5% State of Wisconsin cost share ($22,504.76), and a 12.5% local Whitefish Bay match ($22,504.76). Village Staff and shoreline restoration consultant SmithGroup worked with FEMA over the winter/spring to design and bid the project.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗼𝘄 (𝟳/𝟭𝟮/𝟮𝟭): The Village Board approved the project construction contract at the Village Board meeting last night. Construction will take place after Labor Day to avoid the summer beach season. The project consists of sandy gravel/cobblestone for beach replenishment, funds to repair a broken support bracket on the storm sewer outlet pipe, and a revetment of geotextile and rip-rap to armor the shoreline against similar future damage.

𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱: As a result of a severe winter wind storm that took place in early January 2020, the Klode Beach shoreline encountered substantial erosion. This storm was so severe that the Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management coordinated with local municipalities and was successful in obtaining a FEMA emergency disaster declaration.

Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District - MMSD Pipe Check Program - Financial Incentives Available:https://files.constantcontact.com/4abd04b4201/2ef20569-999f-42bf-88a3-cf9c46c20c30.pdf

The Pipe Check program provides residents within the MMSD service area a financial incentive to eliminate sources of clear water entering the sanitary sewer system. Excess clear water in the sanitary sewer system increases the risk for basement backups for yourself and for your neighbors during rain events.

Completed by an Approved Contractor, a Clear Water evaluation identifies sources of rain or groundwater entering the sanitary sewer system from private property. The maximum financial incentive available to the homeowner is based on the findings of the Clear Water evaluation.

The contractor inspects the discharge locations of existing foundation drains, sump pumps, and rain gutter downspouts. If any of these items discharge into the sanitary sewer, they will need to be disconnected and rerouted to a building code approved location.

Once the contractor identified sources of clear water are eliminated from the sanitary sewer, the homeowner qualifies for the listed financial incentives.
