Community Engagement Request for Input on a Proposed Stage at Depot Park

The City of Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department has been approached by a community group interested in constructing a permanent stage in Depot Park to be used by current and potential event organizers. We are seeking input on whether the community supports a new permanent facility for outdoor performances and events, including new structures and/or additional hardscape (i.e., concrete, brick, stone) in Depot Park.

We encourage community members to attend the public meeting on Wednesday September 16, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at Whitefish City Hall to provide input.

Portions of the presentation include real-time polling, so please bring a mobile device.

City staff will facilitate the meeting and be available to answer questions.

The Pedestrian & Bicycle Path Advisory Committee is seeking 1 member at large for the remainder of a 2-year term, and 1 Whitefish High School Representative for the remainder of a 1-year term. Both terms expire 5/31/2027. The member at large shall reside within the Whitefish School District 44 and shall have maintained residency within the specified boundary requirement for one year prior to appointment.

The purpose and duties of the committee are to provide advice and recommendations to the city park board of commissioners, pedestrian and bicycle path easement negotiators and city staff on matters of pertinence and interest related to the development of pedestrian and bicycle trails pursuant to the Whitefish pedestrian and bicycle path master plan. The committee shall report its advice and recommendations primarily to the park board of commissioners and the easement negotiators. The committee shall act in an advisory capacity only.

The committee meets on the first Monday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at Whitefish City Hall in the Council Conference room (2nd floor).

Letters of interest can be submitted to the Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department at 418 E Second St. by email to [email protected], or mail to P.O. Box 158, Whitefish, MT 59937. These vacancies are open until filled. Applicants will be interviewed and appointed by the Park Board at their next regularly scheduled meeting which occurs on the second Tuesday of the month.

AFTER SCHOOL enrollment is NOW OPEN! Enroll online for August and September, https://secure.rec1.com/MT/whitefish-mt/catalog . This program is offered to students in kindergarten through 4th grade. It runs throughout the 2026-27 academic year from school dismissal until 5:30 p.m. We transport kiddos from Muldown Elementary to the Armory Building by shuttle bus where they have a snack and participate in daily club activities. 🏀🍎⚽️🧸🖍️🖌️🎥 Scholarships are available!
