FRESHWATER FLOOD RESPONSE-DELIVERED! 🇲🇼

🌧️ Every year, seasonal flooding threatens communities across southern Malawi — and every year, Freshwater Project International and partners step up to respond. 💙

This season, we donated 16,000 Aquatabs, 89 H2S rapid water test kits, and DPD chlorine tablets with a comparator to support response to the recent flooding in Zomba and for emergency preparedness. 💧

These tools will help students, families and their communities access safer drinking water, identify contamination quickly, and monitor water treatment effectiveness — reducing the risk of cholera, diarrhea, and other waterborne diseases. Together, they strengthen local preparedness and response capacity when communities need it most. 🌍🤝

We’re excited to announce a new partnership between Coralpoint and Freshwater Project International through 1% for the Planet 🌍!

Together, we’re supporting critical work in Malawi—bringing resilient, solar-powered piped water systems to schools, communities, and health centers. This collaboration helps expand access to safe, reliable water where it’s needed most. 💦

Grateful to Coralpoint for joining us in building sustainable solutions and stronger communities 💧

Training day at Malingunde Health Center 💧🏥 🇲🇼

Thanks to Freshwater Project International, five health center staff members are now equipped with the skills to operate and maintain their upgraded WASH system—featuring a new tank tower, piping network, septic system, and latrines. The session combined technical manual review with hands-on training across the full system. 🔧

Each team also received a maintenance toolbox to keep things running strong for the long term.

Sustainable systems. Local ownership. Health protected. Lives improved. 🌍✨

Thanks to our wonderful partners at the Diocese of Western North Carolina and CCAP Nhkoma Synod as well as the staff at Malingunde Health Center!

⚡💧The lightning came without warning and knocked out the water system at St. Pius Primary School in Zomba, Malawi.

For a while, the school was without a reliable water supply—something that quickly affects daily routines like drinking, handwashing, and cleaning.

Freshwater Project International in partnership with worked together to resolve the issues. 🤝 The damaged pump was removed and replaced with a new submersible pump, installed by trained technicians 🔧The system was tested, and water service was fully restored to all the school’s water points.

A few important upgrades were added too: protection against voltage fluctuations and lightning, improved grounding, and a secure enclosure around the well to help prevent damage or theft ⚙️🔒

The system is now running well on both solar and grid power and water is flowing at Pius School!☀️💦

🌟 When Malawian footballer Temwa TC6 Chawinga made history with the KC Current in the National Women's Soccer League, she didn’t forget where she came from.

🚰 Raised fetching water before school, Temwa is now helping bring solar-powered piped water systems and hygiene resources and education to schools across Malawi through Freshwater Project International and Rotary International partnerships.

💙 $100,000+ raised
💦 Solar-piped water system pumps to 31 water kiosks in a village + 2 schools
