This Tuesday, Chief Hernandez along with Officer Lindquist and Officer Olmos attended a large scale active threat exercise which was put together by the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Office in the City of Galesville.

We share a news clip obtained during the training exercise which featured multiple law enforcement officers from the area but two of them look awfully familiar. Both Officer Lindquist and Officer Olmos are seen on this clip doing what they do best.

Thank you to the Trempealeau County Sheriffs Office and the City of Whitehall Fire Department who accompanied us in the exercise.

This evening we had the opportunity to introduce our third full time hire. Officer Edwin Olmos was formally sworn in and will begin his career in the City of Whitehall as a full time officer.

“Hello everyone,

My name is Officer Edwin Olmos, and I am honored to join the City of Whitehall Police Department.

I graduated from Arcadia High School in 2022 and attended Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) later that year. In 2024, I graduated from CVTC’s Law Enforcement Academy and began pursuing my career in law enforcement.

Since then, I have had the opportunity to serve as a Patrol Officer for the City of Arcadia Police Department and as a Patrol Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

I am excited for the opportunity to serve the residents of Whitehall, build positive relationships within the community, and contribute to the safety and well-being of our city. I look forward to meeting many of you and becoming an active part of the community.

- Officer Edwin Olmos”

Let’s welcome Officer Olmos to the City of Whitehall!! 👏🏽

Whether out in the field or on the field, our commitment to the community doesn’t stop when we’re off duty. Chief Hernandez has spent his free time being an assistant coach to one of our local 8U softball teams and Officer Lindquist stopped by to work with the girls on Tuesday. Mentoring, encouraging, and helping the next generation both on and off the diamond!! This is definitely a group of kind, hardworking, soft hearted girls who do great work! Keep it up 💪🏽🥎

Today we had the honor of being invited to stop by the Whitehall School District 6th grade campout at Pietrek’s Park to educate the students about our K9 Unit. The students were able to engage with Chief Hernandez and K9 Luke along with a special guest from the City of Osseo Police Department, Officer Lindquist and K9 Ozzy.

The students asked a lot of questions about our K9s capabilities, how they’re utilized on a daily basis, and heard stories from Chief Hernandez and Officer Lindquist. Both K9 Luke and K9 Ozzy were able to showcase some of their abilities to the students as well.

We would like to thank the Whitehall School District, WI for allowing to us to interact with the students and the Osseo WI Police Department for joining us

Help me find my home! This sad guy was just located near Hobson St. in front of the courthouse. He’s a chocolate lab and very friendly! If he’s yours or you know where he belongs, please contact the dispatch center at 715-538-4351. We will hold him at Whitehall Police Department for about an hour or so and then he will be relocated to the Trempealeau County Humane Society.

We have a big and exciting announcement to make! Yesterday we had the honor of swearing in our newest member of the force and for the first time in the Whitehall Police Department we’re proud to introduce K9 Luke! K9 Luke is a 9 year old German Shepherd who came from the Czech Republic. K9 Luke was first paired up with Chief Hernandez while working through the Trempealeau County Sheriffs Office back in 2018 after completing a certification course through Jessiffany Canine Services located in Iron Ridge, WI

Throughout their time together in Trempealeau County, K9 Luke and now Chief Hernandez have been responsible for hundreds of drug related interactions with various individuals, which have led to multiple convictions. K9 Luke has been a valuable asset for not only the Trempealeau County area but also surrounding counties who have benefited from his unique ability to be able to detect controlled substances. In the 8 years that K9 Luke and Chief Hernandez were partnered together in Trempealeau County, K9 Luke was responsible for the seizure of approximately, 50 lbs of ma*****na, 3.5 lbs of methamphetamine, 3 lbs of co***ne, 1 lb of he**in, amongst various other controlled substances which include fentanyl.

K9 Luke is trained in not only narcotics, but also has the ability to track individuals who are eluding law enforcement, children who may be lost, or vulnerable individuals who may be missing.

Chief Hernandez and K9 Luke look forward in continuing to provide a service for the citizens of Whitehall. Every one help us in welcoming K9 Luke

Good Morning everyone -
We just wanted to give a heads up/reminder that our high school students will be participating in a mock prom crash to educate the students on the dangers of impaired and distracted driving this afternoon. In the event you see a heavy police, fire, and EMS presence today around the school, no need to panic - they’re just there for the event.
Stay safe!
