🧡 Support Is Here.

Over the past few days, we’ve shared just some of the ways Whitehall is working to support the whole student.

We introduced the familiar faces students can turn to right here at school. We shared additional mental health support available through Cartwheel, 24/7 access to help through ReachOut, and SpeakUp for Safety for those times when someone is worried about a friend, classmate, or situation.

We also celebrated a community partner helping make this work possible.

Different students need different kinds of support at different times. What matters most is that our students and families know they have somewhere to turn.

At Whitehall, support may look like a conversation with a familiar adult, additional counseling, a phone call or text after hours, or simply having someone help figure out the next step.

You don’t have to know exactly what you need before asking for help. Start with someone you trust, and we’ll help from there.

Because supporting the whole student isn’t something we do for a few days. It’s part of what we do every day.

Supporting Student Mental Health, Together☀️

Over the past few days, we’ve highlighted several of the people, programs, and resources available to support Whitehall students and families. Today, we want to recognize a community partner helping make that support possible.

We are incredibly grateful to Sunshine For Mental Health for their generous $5,000 donation to the Whitehall School District!

This funding directly supports mental health therapy and education for our students, including resources such as Cartwheel and ReachOut.

School and life can be challenging, and sometimes students need a little extra support along the way. Asking for help is a safe, courageous, and important step toward taking care of yourself, and we want every Whitehall student to know they never have to navigate those difficult moments alone.

Through caring adults, counseling services, outside partnerships, and additional mental health resources, we are working to give students the support they need to build resilience and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Thank you, Sunshine For Mental Health , for investing in our students and helping us continue this important work. 🧡

The pigs are here! 🐷

Our Animal Science students have been busy preparing for their arrival, and now the newest residents of Whitehall are officially settled in!

The pigs will give our students another hands-on opportunity to learn about animal science, agriculture, care, behavior and more. They may even make their way into lessons beyond the Ag room, giving students throughout the district some fun real-life learning opportunities.

A big thank you to Bruce Ausderau for making the trip to pick them up, Steve Nuttleman for the pigs, and Jamie and Shad Goplin for helping with feed and Popper.

It definitely takes a village to make opportunities like this happen for our students, and we appreciate everyone who helped bring the pigs to Whitehall!

Welcome to Whitehall, little piggies! 🐷

🛡️ See Something? Say Something.

Over the past few days, we’ve shared several ways Whitehall students can get support when they need it.

Just as important is knowing what to do when you’re worried about someone else.

Whitehall School District uses Gaggle SpeakUp for Safety, a confidential reporting tool that gives students, families, and staff a way to report safety concerns 24/7.

What can be reported?

• Bullying, harassment, or cyberbullying
• Threats of violence or weapons
• Concerns about a peer in crisis or possible self-harm
• Other safety concerns affecting our students or schools

Reports are reviewed by safety professionals and quickly routed to district administrators so concerns can be addressed as soon as possible.

🧡 Support When Students Need It - 24/7

Over the past few days, we’ve shared some of the people and resources available to support Whitehall students and families. But we also know difficult moments don’t always happen during the school day.

That’s where Gaggle ReachOut comes in.

Whitehall students have free, confidential, 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors. Whether a student is feeling overwhelmed, struggling with a difficult situation, or simply needs someone to talk to, support is available by phone, text, or online.

📲 Connect with ReachOut:

We want our students to know that asking for help is always okay, and support is available whenever they need it.

Turn your sound on for this one. 🔊📚

There is just something about hearing our first graders sound out those words and figure it out as they go. 🥹 So much learning, confidence, and excitement happening one little “b-b-b” sound at a time.

This is the good stuff. 🧡 Way to go, first graders!

🧡 Another Layer of Support for Whitehall Students & Families

Yesterday, we introduced some of the familiar faces right here at Whitehall who support our students every day. Today, we’re highlighting another resource available to students and families when additional mental health support may be helpful.

Cartwheel is Whitehall School District’s virtual mental health partner, providing students and families with convenient access to licensed mental health professionals.

Cartwheel can provide:

• Individual teletherapy for students, with appointments with a licensed therapist available within days and no waitlist

• Parent and caregiver guidance with practical support for navigating challenges at home

• Family therapy for transitions, stress, or ongoing challenges

• Psychiatric support, when appropriate

• Care Programs for specific challenges such as school avoidance, screens and social media, and intense emotions or behavior challenges

Appointments are virtual, scheduling is flexible, and care is available in multiple languages. For students with Medicaid, care is completely free, and most private insurance plans are also accepted.

Whether a student needs someone right here at school or additional support beyond the school day, we want Whitehall families to know there are resources available.

Getting started with Cartwheel takes just a few minutes. Learn more and complete the interest form here:

Meet Whitehall’s Student Support & Mental Health Team

Over the next few days, we’re highlighting some of the people, programs, partnerships, and resources available to support Whitehall students and families.

We’re starting with the people right here at school.🧡

Whether a student is dealing with stress, working through peer conflicts, facing a difficult situation, or simply needs someone to talk to, these familiar faces are here to listen, help problem-solve, and connect students and families with additional support when needed.

Mrs. Bown – Elementary School Counselor

Mrs. Bown is a familiar and trusted resource for our elementary students. Through Wellness classes for grades 1-5, individual support, and small-group opportunities, she helps students build social-emotional skills, work through big feelings, strengthen problem-solving skills, and feel successful at school.

She also coordinates our district food pantry and helps connect families with school and community resources when additional support is needed.

Mrs. Sygulla – Director of Special Education & Pupil Services, 6-12 Mental Health Counselor & Interim School Psychologist

Mrs. Sygulla supports students experiencing difficult situations or mental health concerns and helps connect students and families with appropriate counseling services and school supports. In addition to her district leadership roles, she works closely with Mr. Youngbauer to help ensure our middle and high school students feel supported, heard, and connected.

Mr. Youngbauer – Future Skills Applied Learning Coach

Mr. Youngbauer is a familiar face for our middle and high school students and is often one of their first stops when they are having a difficult day or need help navigating a challenge. He supports students with problem-solving, peer conflicts, decision-making, and overall well-being while helping them build skills they can use both in and out of the classroom.

These three are an important part of the support available right here at Whitehall, but they are only part of the picture.

Over the next few days, we’ll share more about the additional counseling services, partnerships, and 24/7 resources available to our students and families.
