[Tuesday, 8/11/26] Due to ongoing, extreme fire danger, the Jefferson County Commissioners will be considering an emergency resolution to adopt Stage 1 fire restrictions in Jefferson County on Thursday, August 13th at 9am in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office meeting room. Stage 1 restrictions prohibit the building, maintaining, attending or using a fire or campfire on all private lands in Jefferson County, and prohibits smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials. There is an exemption from the fire or campfire use restriction for devices solely fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels which can be turned on and off. The restrictions do not apply to land within the City of Boulder or the Town of Whitehall. Fire restrictions on state and federal lands are managed by those agencies and are also not impacted by this proposed resolution. Specific fire restrictions can be seen online here: www.mtfireinfo.org
