A legacy of love, learning, and beautiful memories continues to bloom on our campus. This past week, in a special dedication in front of our fifth-grade class, we honored the beautiful life and enduring impact of our dear Mrs. Jennifer Tomlinson-Smith, who passed away this year after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

To keep her bright spirit alive in the hearts of our students every single day, a beautiful rocking chair and a basket filled to the brim with books now have a permanent home on our campus. The books are a collection of some of Mrs. Smith’s absolute favorite stories, generously donated by our amazing campus PTO and the wonderful Mrs. Stacey Noble, a beloved former Whitehouse educator. These special books will be available for our students to check out, hold, and enjoy for many years to come.

Every time a child curls up with one of these stories, or glances at that rocking chair, they will be reminded of the warmth, joy, and dedication Mrs. Smith brought into our lives. She poured so much love into her educational career here in Whitehouse, shaping countless minds and touching even more hearts. This cozy corner stands as a living testament to the incredible impact she made on our school family. We miss her dearly, but we are so comforted to know that her passion for reading and her love for our students will continue to inspire generations of Whitehouse Wildcats. 🐾❤️

🌟 OUR FINAL TAKING ON THE WORLD THURSDAY SPOTLIGHT! 🌟

What an incredible year it has been celebrating our phenomenal students, and we are closing out the school year with an absolute superstar! We are beyond proud to announce that our final Student of the Week for the year is the amazing Evelyn McCarty! 🌍✨

Evelyn brings so much joy and light to our campus, and she truly embodies what it means to take on the world with kindness, dedication, and leadership. Her teacher shared some truly beautiful words about what makes Evelyn so incredibly special:

“Evelyn is always willing to jump in where needed in the classroom. She is a gracious friend to all and definitely doesn’t want anyone to feel left out. Aside from her friendliness in the classroom, Evelyn is a hard worker and always tries her best. She often sets an example for behaviors in the classroom and works hard to help out where she can.”

We could not have picked a more perfect student to wrap up our weekly spotlights! Evelyn, thank you for being such a wonderful leader, a true friend to everyone, and a shining example for us all. We know you are going to continue doing big things and making a wonderful difference in the world! 💖🎓👏

Please join us in giving Evelyn a massive round of applause and celebrating our final Student of the Week! 🎉🙌

🌲 The Stories Under the Oak… or Whatever kind of Tree It Is, is Officially Open! 🌲

What started as a heartfelt dream of Ms. Rozell’s to put books directly into the hands of our little Wildcats—and keep that pesky summer slide at bay—has officially blossomed into reality! Just in time for sunny days and summer reading, our brand-new little library area is open for business.

Now, we originally planned to call this magical spot Stories Under the Oak. But as it turns out, nature had other plans, and we ended up moving it. Is it under a pine tree? A cedar? A very majestic, oversized bush? Look, we aren’t dendrology experts here, we just love books! So whether it’s a pine, a cedar, or just a really nice plain old tree, it is officially the perfect home for imagination to grow. 💡

Our motto is simple: Take a book, share a book, and help us build a vibrant community of readers! 📚

🌟 It Takes a Village (To Build a Library Under a Mystery Tree)
This beautiful space wouldn’t exist without the incredible village that came together to bring it to life. We extend our deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to:
• The WISD Education Foundation: For generously providing the funds to turn this dream into a reality.
• Mrs. Carnes & her Makerspace Students: For pouring your time and hard work into expertly building out the library boxes.
• Mrs. Baranski & her Art Students: For transforming those boxes into stunning, colorful works of art that make the whole space pop.
• Jason & Tami Habedank: For your invaluable hands-on help in assembling the posts and barrels to ensure everything stands strong (regardless of what species of tree is shading it).

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” — Dr. Seuss ❤️

Swing by, find a new favorite story, leave one for a neighbor, and let’s spend the summer reading together. See you under the... well, you’ll know the tree when you see it! 📚🐾
