Over the UTA weekend, we had the pleasure of watching as Lt. Col. Keith Yersak took command of the 442d Mission Support Group. Yersak has been an integral part of this wing for decades. Whether in the personnel section, leading the Inspector General office, serving as the wing executive officer, or commanding the Logistics Readiness Squadron, not much gets done around here that doesn't have his hand in it!

This , we're loaded up with live 500-pound bombs for a training exercise. It's not often that we use live munitions in a non-combat situation, but loading and... well... unloading them properly are important qualifications that need to be maintained both by our weapons loaders and pilots. And while a 25-pound training bomb does a great job of mimicking the free-fall characteristics of the 500-pounder, nothing beats the real thing! 💥

Happy ! Today we're gonna talk about FARRPs.

During , deployed to the 64th Air Expeditionary Wing performed Forward Area Refueling and Rearmament operations at El Pato Air Force Base, Peru. During a FARRP, an A-10 receives fuel and munitions all while the engines are running in what's called an Integrated Combat Turn.

ICTs allow to take the fight to the enemy faster and more flexibly, since they can happen anywhere a C-130 can land (which, if we're honest is pretty-much anywhere!) and bring the necessary supplies.

PEOPLE | Aircraft 951’s Final Commemorable Flight honoring Lt. Col. John Michael “Yeti” Schriever

On this Wednesday, aircraft 951 completed its final flight from Whiteman Air Force Base to Sheppard Air Force Base on August 8, 2023 where it will be utilized as a maintenance trainer at the schoolhouse for years to come.

Aircraft 951 came to Whiteman AFB from Spangdahlem AB in August 2009. Tech. Sgt. Brian Gillespie was assigned as the dedicated crew chief from 2010 until its final flight yesterday, 13 years later, in 2023.

In 2014, Schriever became 951’s dedicated pilot where he and Gillespie formed a close bond over those 6 years.

Schriever passed away on December 17, 2020, doing what he loved, flying.

Yesterday’s departure was solemn and quiet. Lt. Col. John Tice, 303rd Fighter Squadron’s Director of Operations and close friend of the Schriever family, flew aircraft 951 for its final time.

One More Roll

"We toast our faithful comrades
Now fallen from the sky
And gently caught by God’s own hand
To be with him on high.

To dwell among the soaring clouds
They knew so well before
From dawn patrol to victory roll
At heaven’s very door

And as we fly among them there
We’re sure to hear their plea
“Take care my friend; watch your six,
And do one more roll…just for me.”

MISSION| Did you know the 476th Fighter Group is an associate unit that integrates its operations with the 23rd Wing at Moody Air Force Base? Providing total force integration, full and part-time reservists work side-by-side active duty personnel.

The group consists of approximately 250 Reserve personnel assigned to our wing and augments the 23rd Fighter Wing in proving training to pilots and maintainers and deploying in support of combatant commanders.

Activated in 2009, the relationship marked the first of its kind in over 17 years. The partnership is 14 years strong as of June 23 thanks to then Defense Secretary Robert Gates direction of a new Total Force Integration Policy. In his 41 page memo, Gates wrote “all recognize that the National Guard and Air Force Reserve are integral to the Total Force and have assumed a greater operational role in today’s force”.

MISSION | Multi-capable Airmen (MCA) in Peru (Chief Edition!)

Chief Master Sgt. Sal Urbano, Sr Enlisted Leader (SEL) for the 64th Air Expeditionary Wing and 442d Security Forces Squadron's SEL, marshals an incoming C-130 Hercules July 10, 2023 at Chiclayo, Peru for Patriot Fury 23 and Resolute Sentinel 23.

Here at the 442d Fighter Wing, we continue to train to the Air Force's Multi-capable Airmen program wherever we are - we did it in Spain, Greece, and now Peru.

The program gives Airmen (of all ranks), the opportunity to gain experience in a different career field. Urbano, a career defender, stated "Being able to train with our maintainers and then marshal in a C-130 was a really special experience. Our maintainers work hard, and in today's rapidly changing environment, there is no job too big or too small. I was fortunate to spend some time with them today, and the MCA program is important to executing ACE when manpower is limited."

Angry, glad to see your self-constraint. You lead the Best of all of us. As a civilian, I appreciate you "standing the wall". Especially in the AFR position. You have already done your bit in the active. Now you and the 442 do even more! We are blessed to have you all. While you look outward and protect us and our way of life, I know it looks crazy when you look back at all of us. But it is because of men and women like you that let us wake up every morning safe. Not looking who is attacking us or which of our family members are missing. That basic protection allows us to engage in the pursuit of higher freedoms. That pursuit is never easy or without various opinions and looks awful messy. We are the only country in the world with such freedoms. We are a young nation by civilization standards but we are the one that allows personal freedom to the extent that we must all live together regardless of our beliefs. This too shall pass. It will be forged in the melting pot of all our cultures to emerge American. Stand the wall! Keep the Faith! America will pervail.
Good information I found in another post and wanted to share with you; cross-posted here by request:

From an MD immunologist:

I don't post a lot on facebook but I would like to give my perspective and context on the coronavirus outbreak. I hope I can be a more reputable source of perspective as a physician who specializes and is board certified in immunology (as well as pediatrics, allergy and dermatology).

1. Coronaviruses are a family of viruses. "coronavirus" is not unique to this particular strain. Everyone reading this has likely had another different coronavirus infection. This particular strain has been named COVID-19.

2. Every upper respiratory virus has the potential to be lethal. Patients unfortunately die from many upper respiratory viral infections every year - most prominently the influenza virus. 30,000 people died from the influenza virus in 2019. The media didn't report each one. They have reported all 11 coronavirus deaths. Not telling us about the people lost but rather keeping a death "toll".

Let me repeat that:
-Coronavirus: 11 deaths (US in 2020), 3300 deaths (China in 2020).
-Influenza: 30,000 deaths (US in 2019).

*Influenza pandemic of 1918: 675,000! (US), 20-50 MILLION!! (worldwide)
